  1. If you sold senkos and dropshot weights below big box store prices I could order in bulk I'd buy from you.
  2. The second part of this is news to me. Can't wait to try that trick. Thanks.
  3. The further north you go the dumber the birds seem to get. My buddy bagged one in Hearst with a rock. Bird wouldn't leave him alone so he tossed a baseball sized stone in the direction of it, clonked it in the head killing it. Was a nice snack that night.
  4. I add the 2 inch teenie to the back treble hook of all my crank baits. Works like a charm. Oh, and up north the 3 inch chartreuse for walleye and 4 inch for northerns baited with a minnow always did the trick.
  5. Looks like they finally want to back a winner.
  6. Sooooo boring. If they really wanted to get their name across they'd call it 'Scotia bank presents the (insert catchy name). But no. It has to be the Scotia Bank place. Just like how I wish it was 'Rogers presents the Sky Dome'
  7. Geez. It's your call but I remember going through the eastern gap once on lake O was a little scary. Just with the time of year and how the water can be a little colder I probably wouldn't do it. Best of luck if you do try. Don't forget that PFD.
  8. I love mine. I'm 32 now and bought mine when I was in my late 20's. I've got a Nucanoe 12 ft sit on top Yak. Its about 75 lbs and isn't too heavy. I'd actually say 14ft might be too long if you are planning on portaging. It can be difficult to carry a sit on top over your head, and I don't really like the sit in ones for fishing. I've got a hatchback and just load it up on roof racks. Back when I used to work up north we had one of those metal trailer bed roof rack things for the truck. Worked out great for 12 ft jon boats. I'm guessing it would be the same for a yak. Honestly, it all depends what you want. I wanted to make sure I could have guests so I got the 2 person sit on top. Wanted to make sure everyone was comfortable so I bought 2 captains chairs (the boat ones that are padded) and wanted to spend more time fishing and less time paddling so I bought a 30lb minn kota trolling motor. My best advice is just think about how you want to use the Yak and tailor it to your needs. They are great for that.
  9. This is a great story. Love hearing stuff like this that keeps the kids entertained and gets them into fishing. Can't wait to hear how round 2 goes
  10. Mountsberg is always fun. I also love Deer creek just outside of long point.
  11. Is that whitefish named 'skunk' because that's all I seem to get on Simcoe.
  12. Sounds similar to another lake nearby since people posted on this forum how good the fishing was there a few years ago. (For those who think I'm calling out B on this, I'm not. He actually helped keep the lake a secret for a long time. Now it's pretty much all but fished out thanks to some Yahoo!'s that couldn't keep their mouth's shut)
  13. Interesting. We used to get a few way up north in Thunder Bay. Very cool looking fish.
  14. Normally when I go camping the cell phone goes away from the moment I arrive on site until the car is packed to drive back home but the circumstance is special this time around. My girlfriends mom is in the hospital. We want to be able to get away to the campsite we booked for next week but we want to be able to keep in touching with her parents if they need us for anything. I haven't been to Restoule in about 3 years and I legit can't remember if there is any reception. We are right on the lake in the south end near the dog park. Does anyone know if we will have service? Thanks.
  15. Very cool! You are a brave lad. I took my kayak to the islands once, launched out of cherry beach and the wind picked up on my way back. Was a little scary. Also some beauty fish there.
  16. Wow! What a greaser. Great catch bud.
  17. Welcome aboard Doug. Some of my favourite lakes are just a hop skip and a jump from your house.
  18. You can buy peacock bass in downtown Toronto. Now that's fun. Except don't keep the bass in a tank with catfish. They are too aggressive. Mine tried to eat the catfish and killed itself.
  19. Oh. I forgot Muskymatt : 7th place trophy. (Aka at least you tried. The Ottawa Sens award).
  20. You aren't legally allowed to transport live game fish. So don't get caught and if a warden ever comes to your house convince them it was born there. When I had mine in college you can feed it the feeder goldfish they sell at the pet store. Largemouth can eat stuff virtually it's own size. Just buy it a dozen and watch as it picks em off. Nightcrawlers works well but are obviously harder to gather.
  21. I feel like there should be a lifetime award or hall of fame with Joey as one of the first inductees.
  22. Most likely to get skunked with 5 other guys who are catching fish in the same spot - me. (Close second) NAW. Honestly for most helpful I have a ton of guys I could list, Brian (misfish) Nick (NAW) and Chad n Joey (Rodcaster, Joeytier) have always been A+ help for me. Oh. And Pete (fisher pete) though..... haven't heard from him in a while. Hope he is ok.
  23. Weeds man, you gotta watch with the volume on. I do agree that the fish flopping around was a little harsh but the guy explained he was waiting for someone to come back with a bucket. Maybe just a line but I'm not sure what else he could have done.
