I have played a bunch of these as well. Nice for sure. I like the canadian made aspect for sure. Pick up a Taylor and play it though. You just know right away....the sound is incredible. S.

Well, saying that crappies have ruined the walleye fishery forever is a bold statement. And scugog has always been weedy, no more now than ever, and the weeds are what keeps the scugog walleye happy. Shallow water with no weeds and those fish wouldn't make it in there. So, if you want to provide some facts about your statements, I'm all ears. I have an open mind. I've also lived here for 30 years, and seen it happen. Yes, invasive species have a role for sure. That said, invasives come to a new area, explode, have their impact, then return to a sustainable population. All the kawartha lakes have gone thru this change. It started in rice, and worked its way thru the system. Scugog was the last to get hit, and why its the only lake thats not on a rebound right now. When crappies came to rice, they exploded. In turn, the walleyes dropped off. A few years pass, the crappies are hard to get in any numbers, but the walleye fishing is fantastic. Next up was the tri-lakes.....same deal....crappies and zebras get in, crappies explode, walleyes decline. 3-4 yrs later, crappies have leveled off, and walleyes are coming back in good numbers with several year classes. Next was sturgeon.....wash, rinse, repeat....exact same deal. Sturgeon is now on the rebound. I'm no scientist, or biologist, but I live here, and have fished these lakes most of my life. I'm not saying anyone is wrong or right, just what I've seen from years of experience on the water where I LIVE. I still think the trent severn has a lot more to do with actual RECRUITMENT than any other environmental impact. If the water levels are played with when the fish spawn, that year class is done. No walleyes. Pretty straight forward I think, but I'm open to other ideas. S.

The problem with using kijiji is I have to drive all over and make arrangements with people just to play them. Its a pain in the butt. I think I have it narrowed down to a taylor anyways. Ive never touched one I didnt fall in love with. I was playing a 500 series last night that was about 20 yrs old.....killer!! Also, a lot of the old vintage guitars are worth more now than they were new! I agree the aged guitars are great, but getting one has been a pain in the arse! S.

I use my deep cycle battery charger on the 2A setting. Works perfect. Same battery is going strong for 5 or 6 years now, and I also use it to power a graph in my boat, so its been charged MANY times. S.

Ditto... Stocking is not the answer. Scugog is a VERY productive lake, but if the eyes cant reproduce because of something we are doing, we need to fix it. Water levels at spawning season plays a big part in this. Usually, when the walleye spawn thereis still ice on the lakes, and the spring thaw hasnt fully happened yet. The fish spawn in high water, water rises, the trent guys open the locks, the water lowers, and eggs are left high and dry. Its a big problem in all the kawartha lakes. If the eyes can get good spawning conditions, they will reproduce well, but we need a few consecutive years of this before you really see it. S.

We need to do an ofc jam night! I went and played a few more, but there is something about the taylors that I really like. Having a jam tonight and playing a buddies taylor, but have a few others coming to mess around with too. I played almost every guitar in the guitar boutique and long and mcquades, and have it narrowed diwn to the taylor or the tanglewood. Seagull does have some nice ones, but the ones found played best and sounded best had no pick ups in them. I need to plug in....part of the reason im getting a new one. S.

I would love to have a rotating season on walleye. There are lakes that could sustain the pressure for one year, then none the next. The biggest problem with the kawartha's and walleye recruitment is water levels at spawning time. That's a whole different story that needs to be addressed with the Trent severn waterway. Those guys have messed up a few times real bad. S.

I played a few yamaha's last night. Almost bought one actually. Pick up a Taylor or martin though, and you know right away what you want. I'm not knocking yammies.....I just want a guitar that is going to keep me happy for a loooong time. I have a few others, its time to blow the dust off the wallet and get the one I really want. The Tanglewood I played was real nice though. I'd never even heard of them, and really know nothing about them. It had great action, awesome sound, and the price was right too. Too many to choose from is the biggest problem! S.

Yep, I really like the Martins too. Grew up with one in the house, and learned my first chord on one, but the newer ones just don't seem to have it like the older ones. I hear you on the Taylors, they are sweet sounding right off the get go, and play awesome too....I've been playing a couple of them the last few times we've jammed, and honestly, that is what I was looking to buy, but there are just so many options....hard to choose. Best way is to play them all. S.

My last place had radiant heat in the cielings. Worste heat I ever had in my life. Expensive, and inefficient. I will never, ever do that again. Thank god for wood, because I would never be able to afford with just that as my heat source. Seriously, who puts heat in the cielings? Doesn't make sense. S.

So, who plays, and what are you playing? I'm in the market for a new acoustic. Really like the Taylors, and really, that is what I want, but I picked up a Tanglewood, and I tell ya, its a sweet playing/sounding guitar.....anyone have one?? I don't think the new Martins hold a candle to the new Taylors, but if I could find an old Martin D28 it would be a hard decision. I've been playing everything I can find the last couple weeks, just to see, but its so hard to decide on just one. Anyways, just wondering what you all play and like?? S.

We got ourselves a sled and an ice hut. Should be a good winter if it ever gets here. 1 permanent hut, and 2 portables......good to go. Last year I got her a portable graph for icefishing. Gotta love 'er! S.

About time. I don't think fishing has lot to do with the decline in walleye, but shutting it down isn't going to hurt. We need recruitment to bring them back, I hope they focus on that. It would be nice if we had one lake in the kawartha's to ice fish walleyes though. A rotating season from lake to lake would be awesome for a winter fishery here. S.

I'd be launching this weekend lol.....tank of new gas, a hakf can of seafoam, and let 'er rip! Probably runs mint! Save your $$$ for a better bowmount. Really, the bowmount and graph is what is important when its time to fish! S.

For sure, but in reverse I can run my outboard right on the surface and get into shallower water. The power of the prop keeps it up top, and I can see exactly where I am going, and easily steer around any obstacles. Most people will think I'm crazy, but if you want to see how I do this in person, come on out for a boat ride. lol S.

I wouldn't add trim/tilt to that either. Not worth it. I have a 40hp manual tilt and I can get into skinny water no problem. In reverse... Get a bowmount with the money instead, and use the bowmount for skinny water instead. That engine should have some sort of shallow drive setting on it, but it might not. Mine doesn't. S.

They're not bad for me, but I guess it depends what your used to. My skinny butt gets cold easy, and I dont like to be cold, so I would rather have warm waders, than light ones. I only really wear them late in the season.....they are generally used when the lakes are too frozen to get a boat in, so its cold.....they are frozen solid when I get out of the water, but still keep me warm. One pair of the redhead socks and im good to go. S.

Ditto. Give me a 2 stroke gas engine any day. I get a real laugh out of guys who complain about mixing gas. Like seriously, is it that hard to put 20ml of oil in each litre of gas?? Pretty simple math. S.

Water can only get so cold, its the air temps that get ya. Water doesn't do well once it gets to 0 Degrees C. Standing in the water can be warmer than standing out of the water some days lol S.
