Broad-scale Fisheries Monitoring, Fisheries Management Zone 17
Sinker replied to Ron's topic in General Discussion
Thanks Ron!! What exactly do they mean by broad scale species? Forget that......found some more info here: http://www.mnr.gov.on.ca/en/Business/LetsF...L02_166749.html Sinker -
Chemong lake....yup, there's weeds The weeds are coming along nicely. Just perfect if you ask me. The weeds that usually grow to the top, are just a couple feet under the surface now. Just right for burning spinnerbaits for muskies ......always get the odd eye doing that as well. Sinker

Hahaha.....nice report, and nice find on the fin!! Can't get them all the time Johnny.....you still did better than most would have, so, don't feel bad man. I know how hard you fish!! Sinker

I use a snell knot for tying worm harnesses, and for single hooks with an offset eye. I don't like offset eyes on hooks.....but some of the good hooks have the offsets. A snell knot takes care of them. Sinker

Dont touch your carb until you run seafoam thru it!!! Decarbonize the motor, and I bet it runs great again. I also use a product called power tuner. Its made by Mercury, and comes in a spray can. Just spray it in the intake while the engine is running until it stalls. Let it sit for an hour or so, then fire it up and watch all the crap that comes out! I run this stuff once a season in mine. I dunno...I"ve never been a big fan of humminbird. I hear they are getting better though...so who knows. I will always stick with lowrance/eagle. I just have a cheap lowrance X-97. It works great. I can mark a perch jig in 80 FOW......good enough for me. IF there's fish, it marks them. I mainly use it for finding structure, and I have a portable kit to use it for icefishing. Works great, and the price was right. Sinker

I guess this is where I say " I told ya so" Summer weather is almost impossible to predict. Its either nothing like whats been predicted, or its even worse than predicted. I still go either way. Most times, if it does rain......it doesn't last long........and if it does rain all day......there's usually no lightening. It was a great day around here all day long. I did't see a drop of rain......a little windy, but fishable. Just go next time.......I always do. Sinker

One thing is for sure.......you wont catch a thing from home!!! I will admit, I'm a little spoiled. I can be on the water in about 40 mins, so that makes things a little easier for me. Sinker

I would never cancel a trip due to rain. Just go man!!! I went out tonight for a couple hours......the weather was crap. WINDY, cold and almost raining.......I still got 2 nice eyes, a small musky, and a crappie......all on spinnerbaits. I have no idea what the crappie was thinking....LOL. Just go......the forcast will be wrong anyways.....then you'll regret it!! Its hard to regret a day on the water......even a bad one!! Sinker

What part of the lake are you staying on? I assume you've got a boat? Fish ddep weed lines. Good walleye, and musky. Lots of crappies too.....if you get one, there's usually more. I like to use spinnerbaits for musky, white 3" grubs for the eyes and crappies. Let me know what area you'll be at and I can give you some areas to check out. Sinker

Nice report!! I've been having no luck with your vids either......until Tbay did whatever he did. Now they work perfectly. The one thing I love about fishing, is you never know everything......there is ALWAYS something to learn. There is no better way than to spend a day fishing with a new partner!!! Everyone has thier own little trick that works for them....sharing them is the key!! Sinker

I've been very happy with a new walleye battery I put in mine last fall. It seems to hold a real good charge, and the price was right. I got mine at the marina I"m docked at......$90 Sinker

I spent 12 years pounding nails into new homes, decks, fences....and many other things made of wood. After 12 years, 5 of those running my own company, I'd had enough and had an opportunity to go back to school. I took a 3 year program at Fleming College, and I just recieved my diploma for an Environmental Technologist. I am currently working as an Assistant Water Resources Tech. I love the work, and it keeps me near water every day. I can always fall back on carpentry, but I hope I don't have to. I'd rather be working with water! Sinker

Like Johnny Bass said, it takes lots of time to figure out a lake. Keep in mind, I've been fishing the lake we fished for 20 years......beleive me, I've spent lots of fishless days to figure out where to be, and when to be there. It will all come together in time. Focus on weeds. Find an edge, and fish will be there. Sinker
