I have no idea how many miles I get on a tank (portable) with my 40 2 stroke. I know I can fish all day long, and not have to worry about it though. My boat is prolly lighter though......less than 1000lbs anyways. I can go to any kawartha lake, and fish from one end to the other, and still have gas in the tank. I find its quite good on gas. I did a 32 mile run on simcoe one time, and burned just over 1/2 tank. I should really keep track, just for curiosity sake. Sinker

Back Lake Adventure With My Better Half (lots of pic's)
Sinker replied to solopaddler's topic in General Discussion
Incredible location to have a cabin. You must have spent some time researching that area, or you have spent some time up there previous to your purchase. I'm envious.......that is a great area! Congrats on the anniversary, and thanks for a great report!! Sinker -
Sweet! I figured it would be working fine!!

Hahaha.......JB wanted a pc of his WGSF. Apparently they are highly regarded by some

Another newf......sweet!! Where abouts are ya from on the rock? I'm off the northern peninsula myself....St. Anthony area. Welcome aboard! Sinker

Thats pretty much all I ever do. Only, no worms. Just grubs. Mostly off deep weed edges, but this time of year you can drift the weed flats pretty good before the weeds get too thick. Sinker

WTG Cliff!! Nice musky! Sinker

And here I thought you guys were talking about cannon balls........geeze! Sinker

No bait was harmed in the making of this fishing report That would be cheating....

Most fish were caught on deep weed edges. 10-12 FOW. JB's secret lure caught them on a weed flat in 7-9FOW with scattered weeds. I find in the kawartha's, you have to be on deep weedlines, once water temps reach ~70F. Temp yesterday was anywhere from 70-73F. I don't have much luck on these lakes any deeper, until late in the season. Sinker

WGSF= Worlds Greatest Sport Fish. I believe Rich has the patent on that one....LOL. Your right, Johnny's fish was a real beauty!! Very healthy, and thick. Nice to see this early in the season. Sinker

Nice....but personally, I liked the starcraft better I'm not a bass fisherman though! Sinker

Great day of fishin Johnny!! Was nice to meet ya, we'll have to do it again!! That magic lure of yours was pretty cool. Johnny blindfolded me, tied it on, and would only let me look while it was in the water......I have no idea what it was......but it blew my mind when he caught a fish on the first cast with it.... ....lucky I say... ...then he nails another one... ...Geeze.....I'd better get me one of them!! LOL Glad to finally put a musky in the boat.......on my line....LOL. I just finished telling johnny that whenever I take someone out musky fishing with me, they get all the fish. No sooner did I say that, and he's got one on ......frig.....I though for sure I was doomed! LOL I got mine minutes after though... ..thank the fish gods!!! The musky I lost went berzerk.....it hit about 10 ft out, and just went nuts on the surface. Flipping and twisting and jumping.....I had a bad feeling, then he spit my spinner back at me. Oh well......I know where he lives, and I have his number!!! I'll get him next time...... Great day, great company, and lots of action, and I just finished a killer fry of fresh eyes.......does it get any better than that? Sinker

Geeze...am I gonna have to come up there and show you how to catch some eyes for dinner? Man, its easy. Just keep it light, and use live bait. You can't go wrong. It shouldn't even be legal its so easy......how can they resist a perfectly presented minnow? I use a 7' ultra light rod, with 6lb line. Use as little weight as you can get away with, and still keep contact with bottom. I usually use a white 3" grub, on the lightest jig I can get away with, depending on conditions. Just a slow drag along bottom, just fast enought to keep the tail turning. They'll pick it up light, so if you even think it might be a fish....set the hook!! Good luck up there bud, I might just show up.....ya never know Sinker

A sawzall would cut that like butter......even a skill saw with a good blade would cut thru that with ease....just taker slow. Sinker

You should have no problems cliff. Your boat is really light, and your trailer is not even broke in yet......it needs a good haul to get it broken in. Just watch your temp, and if its shifting too much, drop it down a gear. Its the constant shifting that does the damage.......revving the motor in a lower gear will use more fuel, but I don't think you'll have to. You'll be fine. Sinker

Mine is built by Brunswick. A lund the same year, is the same hull I believe.

I have a starcraft. Its a 16ft aluminum. Tough as nails. It takes a beating like you've never seen. I hunt and fish from it, from ice out until I have to break ice with it. I'll be keeping her forever. Sinker

Yup, the trolling motor is the best spot. You can just use a hose clamp and clamp it on the motor housing. Just watch the wire running down the shaft.....I found it to be a PITA. Sinker

What ever happened with your bilge issue Bricknblock? Where was the water coming from? Sinker

Maybe we need to do a new poll. Do you leave your marker buoys out all night? Yes or no...... I'd bet the majority would be a big no. I have a funny feeling you might be the only yes.......common sense ain't so common these days!! Sinker
