  1. I'm sorry, but I wouldn't be caught dead with that thing! Sinker
  2. I've been perching where even a hand auger will spook a school away. One buddy is hauling them, so you drill a hole a little closer, and they're gone. Seen it many times. Most times though, I dont think it matters. Sinker
  3. Still better than nothing!! Beats sitting in the wind all day, thats for sure!! Sinker
  4. Glen, you've got it all backwards my friend. They are going to be shut off until tuesday, then on wed, they're going to be so hungry, I'll have to hide behind my hut to bait my hooks Just wait and see Sinker
  5. I had a scary trip out there one time too. Since then, I really make sure the ice is good before I go out in that area. I spud the whole way.......on foot only!! Nice work on the fish!! I can't wait to get out there myself!! Sinker
  6. Yep, better to be sitting beside an icehole, freezing your nuts off, than at work anyday!!! I'm headed that way next week. Thanks for the report! Sinker
  7. The humpy has been working good this season!!! Nice job on the whities!! Sinker
  8. Atta girl!! Nice going on the whities!! Sinker
  9. Atta boy! Good on ya for getting out........some members whimped out today!!!! Clamp-it, gotta hand it to ya man, it was a brisk day!! Did you set up the tarp?? It wouldn't have been as bad out of the wind, but still friggen cold out there!!! Sinker
  10. Nope, Floyd Hale doesn't run the operation anymore. Its not even a Hale that runs it if I remember right. Try here: Tim Hales Fish Huts, 705-426-9669, RR#3, Conc. 7, Beaverton, Ontario. L0K 1A0 He's got some great huts, and nice machines to get out and back. I've always caught fish with him, everytime I've gone out. Sinker
  11. Sure, it would make a difference on hard packed snow, but get into some fluffy stuff, and it doesn't help it from plowing at all. Go ahead, try it in some deep snow, and tell me how much easier it is.........have you ever dragged a 2 man flip over for any distance across a lake in powder snow?? The best thing to do is make a separate sleigh for your hut, that gets it above the snow surface. The skis would work great then. But now you need more room to transport the sleigh and the hut. A one man is the way to go IMO. I'd trade my 2 man Eskimo for a one man clam if I was to do it again. Sinker
  12. Yep, it works. I find Mr. Noodles are the easiest. Just break them up, boil them for a minute, and your golden. Whities aren't the smartest fish around. They'll eat anything if you put it down there for them. What Fang said about the quantity is bang on. You want just enough to get them interested, not feed them. If I stop marking fish on the graph, I'll put a little bit down. Sure enough, as soon as it gets close to bottom, here comes the fish agian. I like to just pop the air bladder out of live minnows myself........especially if I'm using them for bait too!! Just 5 or 6 is all you need at a time. Sinker
  13. Is there any particular reason you want the stem to slide? I like them fixed myself, attached with tubing. Sinker
  14. I shoot every one that comes in range. No matter what I'm hunting......if a yote comes close enough for a good shot, its toast. Sinker
  15. Hydro came for us right away. Within an hour. Sinker
  16. Honestly, if you plan on hauling it by hand with all your gear all the time, ferget about it. your better off with 2 one man flip overs. I have a 2 man eskimo, and if I'm walking, there is no way I'm hauling it out by hand. I've done it, and unless conditions are perfect, its a major workout. If you have a machine, ignore what I just typed! Sinker
  17. We had that happen here too. The ground from outside burnt off, so we only had 100, of our 200amp service. Phone Hydro......they'll set you up temporary until they can get er done right. Sinker
  18. grilled cheese!! I also like venvison or goose jerky or pepperettes. I can't stop jigging long enough to actually cook something out there.......I'm lucky to stop long enough to wolf down a pepperette!!! Sinker
  19. Nice going solo. I'm assuming you guys went out from Pt. Anne, and fished somewhere in big bay? I'm heading out there next week. Feel free to pm me the location with the most action Sinker
  20. Once again, I'll tell you Tim Hales!!!!
  21. Well, if you would have came perching after you'd have all that extra protien in your system and would feel like a million bucks right now Good luck tomorrow!! Sinker
  22. He was wishing he was there He'll get his chance tomorrow!!! Sinker
  23. They were smashing it!! A lot of the hits were on the drop.......your line would just stall in the hole.......gotta love those hits. Just reel down and set the hook HARD......yeehaw......fish on!! Sinker
  24. Never tried myself.......but also curious to know. Sinker
  25. Just keep atter. Sounds like your doing the right things, I just don't know about location. Simcoe is all about location......gotta be in the right spot!! Sinker
