  7. MMMMM......perch!! Just can't beat a good fry of perch man!! Nice to see you finally got out. I stayed home today and did absolutly nothing all day LOL. Sinker
  8. How are you putting the line on exactly? lying the spool down and letting it turn as you reel, or letting it ravel off the spool, and not turning? Sinker
  9. I ran into this one out on Lake O one time. It was foggy as all get up, and when it cleared, this is what we saw. I though for sure we were all goners........LOL. Sinker
  10. Hey, Anyone have one of these units? I was just out cleaning up some stuff in the garage, and came across one that came with my boat when I bought it. I took it off right away, because at the time, I didn't know how to use it. I just hooked it up to a battery, and it seems to be working. Is this thing worth setting up for icefishing, or am I wasting my time? I've done a little research online, and came up with some positive info, just curious if anyone here actually has one, and has an opinion on it?? Sinker
  11. There's no specks that I know of anyways
  12. Elephant lake is a for sure bet for some pike if you into them too......you might get lucky and get a couple eyes as well. I'm working on that pm..... lol Sinker
  13. I have the 55lb minn kota power drive. So far so good. I've run it for 2 seasons from about april to december at least once a week, usually 2 or 3 times. No probs yet, and I bought it used as well. I can fish all day on one battery no problem in a good wind. Sinker
  14. Man, lakers and eyes out of the same hole??? Good gawd man, that's heaven!!!! Thanks for the report!! Sinker
  15. Good on ya for getting out. It was a chilly morning, for sure!! Do you always pick the coldest days to go?? J/K Thanks for the report! Sinker
  16. Ha.......I'm not sure what it would take to get you off simcoe!!! I've made several good trips away from her now, and sent the invite.......maybe next time you'll break the habit, and try a different lake???? You must be growing scales by now......are your lips turning downward too??? BTW......just ate those trout........OMG......I'm going bask asap!!!! Sinker
  17. Straggle is in Harcourt park, so unless your buddy has a cottage in the park itself, and is a member, its off limits to the public. Try shallower for sure. I'll send you a pm with some info. Sinker
  18. Yep, a brisk morning, but I'm noticing the sun is feeling pretty good this week! Starting to feel some spring in the air...... Good luck man, Sinker
  19. A quad would not have gone where I went today, that is FOR SURE!! A sled MIGHT have made it, but I wouldn't have tried it. LOL But seriously, a machine solely for icefishing is a sled. PERIOD. If you only fish thru the ice a few times a year, and pick your days......then a quad would be better for YOU. Sinker
  20. Yes......forgot to mention the extra felt insole on the bottoms.........VERY important part of warm feet. Sinker
  21. Half and half williams ice jig, #60, and a green black badboy type jig is all you need on that lake anywhere you go. Sinker
  22. I could get you there, but lets see what you come up with first....... Some nice smallies in there too Sinker
  23. Just ask him before you head out. Most times its not a problem......just make sure he knows before you head out, he might not bring an auger if you don't ask. Sinker
  24. Find someone who can knit socks. Buy the pure merino wool, and get them to knit you a nice pair. They last forever, and I've never seen any synthetic that can compare. Can't beat pure wool, its tried, tested and true. Sinker
  25. The hardest part about fishing that area, is picking a lake. I've been cottaging in that area for 25 yrs. Most of the lakes are pretty much the same. I find the lakes that are a little less travelled produce the best fish up there, but its tough going on them right now. Its all about access. Slot lakes with one line are my favourites, as long as they aren't rammed with people all the time. The pressure seems to make the fish smarter. Just because you don't see anyone fishing a lake, doesn't mean there are no fish in it........HINT!!! How deep do you normally fish? I get most of my bigger lakers in 20-30FOW. Most people fish much deeper, where the nursery fish live......HINT #2!! A live minnow suspended under a slip float over deep water will usually get a nice fish. You won't get many, but if you get a hit, its a good one most times. If you have a lake in mind, shoot me a pm, and I may have some info on it. Sinker
