Yah, well as we all know burnt out headlights are the gateway crime to arson and murder. Live and learn I guess. Change the headlight in the parking lot at crappy tire instead of doing it at home.

U.S. Supreme Court rejects Asian carp measures
jedimaster replied to Fish Farmer's topic in General Discussion
That was a pilot program that snuck out in testing for possible use against asian carp was it not? Besides all these videosof people using bows to kill them, why not just have a guy with a sword drive up and down and slah em all. That would seem like more fun than with a bow. -
I agree... It just feels like every team should have a hometown kid on it to root for. True story, my girlfriend was pissed at me a couple weeks ago for watching every leaf game. She said "Why don't you root for a good team, the leafs always dissapoint you, they suck". I told her "Look, I am just the kind of guy that finds something he likes and sticks with it....Maybe your right though, maybe I should be the kind of guy that tests the waters out, and if something is quiet right I'll just change my mind and move on." She didn't say anything at the time but ever since then when a game has been on she seems to enjoy when I watch the game and root for the leafs. Last night she said, "Your such a nice honest loyal person, keep rooting for the Leafs"

It's Not Hockey---But We Should Still Care

To be honest, I personally feel like environmental conserns are best left up to the provinces versus the feds. The provinces have such uniqueness in terms of environment that they are better equipt to make wise decisions. As it is now a single piece of legislation affects all of canada. What is good fo BC may not be what is good for Ontario and vice versa. -
It's Not Hockey---But We Should Still Care

As I think I mentioned I had a conversation with an MP about it in person. I did not read any such manifesto. He was fairly open that there was going to be a review and possible changes to the Fisheries Act. -

It wasn't a slight against anyone just a reminder to make sure the facts are straight before condeming a majority goverment that is following through with what they promissed. -
To be honest I have officially thrown in the towel on the post season. This doesn't mean that I thought this was a total loss of a year. The goaltending situation is clearly a big thing to be worked on. I like what I am seeing so far from the new coach on a defensive side. Kessle is a goal scoring winger that needs help. Not unlike most other goal scoring wingers in the NHL. We still need a top line center, and I think Schenn is going to do well in the new system. I would think there are going to be some moves in the summer, for what and for who I don't know, but I owul dbe happy to see the leafs lose every game from here on out. Top 10 draft picks coming up and there are a few names in here that would be nice additions. I woul dlike to see one of these centers picked up. I doubt we can get teh first over all to get yakupov, but I think most of the other places are within reach. From TSN 1. Nail Yakupov 1 Sarnia (OHL) 10/6/93 RW L 5'11/189 42 31 38 69 +15 2. It's Not Hockey---But We Should Still Care

Did I suggest anything in my post that I was referring to you? I am fairly well informed of the fisheries act. So without the risk of sounding like an ignorant cocky like you, perhaps you should sit back and ponder at what the meaning behind the post was. That was for people to not just blindly trust what any media outlet gives on any pollitical issue as they all have anagenda. Good or bad there is always an agenda. Look up the information for yourself and base your judgement on that. If you took that as a slight against you then perhaps you should bite your own toungue before making such a ridiculas comment like the one you made pointed at me. -

You can't have one without the other. The economy needs to be strong in order to provide the resources to protect the environment from the very thing that goes to help raise funds. There are ways to protect yet allow development. Certain pieces of legislation are so outdated that they in fact block things from happening that would actually help... case in point allowing sand bags in streams to divert water or fish from being stuck in damns. Some streamlining is clearly needed to make improvements. Thats what a governments job is. To improve on what they have been given. Now weather or not this is an improvement is up to each person to decide. I am not entirely opposed to the idea of revamping the fisheries act. Do you know how many conversations like the following have occured "Logically you know that this would not only help the environment but provide a boost to the economy...Sorry sir its not allowed" There are always agendas hidden on every side. I would suggest people go through the information before blindly passing judgement on something. Once you have feel free. Well feel free even if you are illinformed. -
There is no reason to appologize for talking about booze on any fishing thread.

SOunds to me like it will be easier to build a dock or alter the shoreline. Some of the rules in place are stupid beyond a doubt. Just try getting a permit to put down some stones to protect a shoreline from eroding. -
Saw it myself, just in case I wipped over to canadian tire and bought some axe deoderant and a couple boxes of buckshot shells. I was sure if it meant I was gonna hook up with swedish bikini models, or turn into a zombie. I figured I would be prepared either way.

I dumped the binders a while ago and started using the plano cases, I find these way more convenient to use in the boat.

If its driving you can drive it down to Hamilton and they will pay you by the pound for the scrap steel. I think that will likely net you the best return. I would think 200-500 dollars is within the ballpark dending on the price of steel right now. I would call them to make sure first. Wentowrth recycling 905-527-1707

Two more guys rescued on Simcoe today.
jedimaster replied to kickingfrog's topic in General Discussion
Would be interesting if one of these two was one of the previous 26. I guess if the had a power auger they could hang it off the back of the floe and giver to shore? -
Well just thought I would post this to get some updates on the ice out... If you near the water post the lake date and open water reports... Specifically I was wondering if the Kawartha lakes are open yet, but post for whatever lake you know.

At some point you have to ask yourself is it me or bad luck? Clearly everyone and I mean everyone knew that area was not safe. Everyone on every site had been talking about how the BBP area and pretty much anything on the east side was sketchy. Heck I only went out once on simcoe this year and it took me all of 5 minutes to figure out the normal areas I go ice fishing were not safe. There is allot of information out there on where the safe ice is and isn't. Yes everyone wants to fish and everyone wants to have fun, and noone wants anything bad to happen. Sometimes common sense should prevail. This reminds me of a time about half a dozen years ago I was up on Opeongo. I was taking a group of newcomers to the sport up to the North arm for some lakers. When we were waiting for the water taxi there was a group of clearly inexperienced fishermen out in canoes. They couldn't paddle worth a crap, few if any of them had life jackets. The water was pretty rough that day. I called out to them to stay close to shore cause the water is rough. They heard me and kept going. We picked up a ride in the taxi and went on our way. A week later when we came down the guy told us about a group of canoers that went into the water right near the store and some of them drowned. I want to say something like within a few hundred feet of the docks. I knew instantly who it was. I have been on the other end of advice I did't want to listen to but I have long since my lesson to listen to what people have to say. Safety before pride people. With the boating season coming up this should serve as a lesson to everyone. When people say its not safe, or put your lifejacket on, or watchout the waves on Lake X are bad, find another thing to do or make adjustements. Be informed and be safe. Don't let foolish pride get in the way of good judgement. Thankfully noone was hurt. Who is to blame? Not mother nature, she has been doing this for eon's and will continue to do so long after we leave. We are Fishermen. We are Outdoorsmen. Respect mother nature and she may just allow you to get home safe and sound.

Good man john. 5 bucks.

Ran low 12's. coulda been the fastedt plymouth accliam in the world.

10 dollars is not the answer to the riddle..... Try again.
-
If a fishing rod and a cork handle costs 110 dollars together and the fishing rod is a 100 dollars more than the cork handle how much does the cork handle cost?
-
I have a cumara and I like the handle, but the foam feels weird in the rain. I wouldn't say slippery, just weird. I prefer cork. Howver the cumara I have is super sensitive.
-
The obvious should be said and has been, "Glad everyone is safe, Gald none of the rescuers were hurt, Clearly Darwin isn't acting fast enough. The people are giving fishermen and outdoorsmen a bad name. Use your head people."

I jammed a 400 stump puller into a 1991 plymouth acclaim then chopped it into a 2 door pickup elcamino style... I wish I had pics of it. The only one I have is one from part way through the project....
