  1. To add as a side note, it just occurred to me that this rod going out the door marks 50 years this month since I sold my first custom built rod. I think I'll retire to the porch with a cold beer. Cheers

  2. Hi all, got out for a morning fish before the nasty weather was due(never showed up in the end). Got a bunch of bass and walleye and was teased by a few musky. Fun morning.

  3. For those of you who were following my post "Moose Antler Rod Handle," it is now finally ready to catch some fishies. The owner wanted to give it the handle, "The MOOSE" and I was happy to make it so. Here's the final pictures I just took before it leaves the house later today. Oh and yes, the guides are indeed spiral wrapped, as requested. Thanks for looking and Happy Sunday Folks.

  4. Thank you CM. I've been building spiral wrapped rods since the early 80's. I have specialized ultralights for G'Bay Whites and Lakers, numerous down rigging rods in both length and line ratings (my fave go to is still a 12' spiral wrapped Fenglass from the 80's ) and absolutely spiral wrapped long rods for bait caster float rods. They're definitely numerous applications where spiral wrapped builds are the superior choice imo. The ole Fenglass awaiting action.....

  5. I would think so for the most part. However, back in the day for example the OMC 9.9 and 15hp were the same except for carb jets and an intake spacer iirc.

  6. A thing of beauty Chris. I truly don't understand the concept of spiral wrapped guides?

  7. Engine itself seems to be OK, you need to look for another lower unit. Check out marinas and repair shops.

  8. If you're referring to the trolling motor, that's what I assumed... probably just a crappy battery manufacturer. I'm stuck with it now. I am also going to to upgrade my battery charger to a Nico. I am using a cheap Amazon one now.

  9. So I had a chance to remove the prop this weekend. No fishing line but this doesnt look good... looks like bad corrosion. I'm wondering if this motor is pooched. I got a guy but not sure I trust him anymore. He's done repairs for me this past year but the motor is obviously not in good shape. Not sure I want to keep putting money into it. I'm near Schomberg - if anyone knows of a good mechanic, please PM me
