Headed out this morning for some shallow white fish. I was out on this spot last week for the first time. Ice this year on Simcoe is so sketchy near the big lake. Rolled into my parking spot with fog covering the lake. Decided to slow my roll and take my time loading up the smitty and get on my way. Boy, this is hard for a guy that is out there set up and ready an hour or more before day light. Age thing I guess. Game plan was to walk to a shallow starting point,then work my way to the drop. As I am loading the smitty, I am thinking,do I really need the heater and hub ? Sure glad I did load it on,as the damp fog with -5 temp,was a bit for my old paws. Got to my set up spot,drill , drop camera to see bottom. Looks good. Pop up the hub,turn the heater on and drop. Didn't take long and they were coming in. Thought wow,going to be a good morning. Hit right off the bat on the high hook blood worm tie. Reel up a 12" juvi whitie. Watching the screen that big yellow blob on the bottom was breaking apart. Turns out, it,s a pack of juvi whities. After the sun broke the fog away,I could see where I was walking. So packed the heater and hub for the rest of the morning and moved a bit deeper. Same thing. A bit deeper,same thing. Moved again for the 4th time. SAME THING. Nothing but juvi whites. Once I moved to the drop, there were no juvies,and,there were no other fish. I am not complaining at all about this morning. I know in 2-3 years,those little fellas,they going to be my dinner. Great to see. THEN, 10 AM it started. Boom,roll,bang,roll,boom,growl. That sun was making that ice very unhappy already. I actually felt that ice lift and drop. That was enough for me to say,I,ll come back another day. LOL It even had another guy say,you feel that ? Yup.

Couldn't agree more about Kipawa. By far all of the best fishing memories of my life are from the yearly trips up there. Paved road to the government dock in the village of Kipawa. Started back in the 80's single, and it was always about Lakers. Used to be many lodges back then. Corbeau Lodge was dead center at the hub of the whole massive system. It's like a huge X.That was a 10 mile due north boat ride. Stayed there many times through different owners. Now it's privately owned by Lindros. Spent most of our times at Alwaki lodge though another 4 miles away around the horn. It was a bit more rustic and better suited for just the boys, so once an opening came up we jumped on it. Often had 2 cabins and one year even 3. Alwaki is up for sale in 3 parcels now but still functioning in a limited fashion, as in no transportation. But even back then the highest rated lodge was always Kipawa Lodge, another 6 miles across Hunters Lake. They are now even better still offering full service. So you are now 20 miles from the dock in what I consider a magical place of sorts, it's hard to describe. You might as well be in a fly-in, only boats you might see for the week will be few and local. Being able to bring your own boat is a huge bonus too. So Huey, if you were to ever actually consider Kipawa as an interest I can help you out big time with info and maps I already have done up. There's a great forum too. I really have to warn you though, if you do go up, expect your experience to be on a far different level from the other places you mentioned. It was always about a Lake Trout week mostly, with Walleye as as a good bonus. For the Americans though it was more about the Walleye fishing. For me it was an evening thing mostly, whether back trolling with bottom bouncers and spinner rigs, anchoring and slip floats on structure, or dragging a jig'n worm even. My pb Walleye ever came from a late June full moon 10:30 at night dragging an Ugly Bug and a worm. 11 1/2 lbs and well over 31". Here I am with my bare bones 14 ft tinny and we win the biggest of the week against all the rich American boats. We also won the Trout award that week as Jim caught a 10 1/2 Laker on our way to have a beer at the Alwaki one afternoon.. Cheers

I'm just asking here cause I don't know? What are the by-products/waste materials produced during the manufacturing of the batteries? What's the environmental footprint that's left after producing the electricity to charge these batteries? Where do these batteries go when they're at the end of their useful life? Are we trading the devil we know for one that we don't? I still think we/they should be working on better management/use of the resources we have. If it turns out to be electric so be it as long as the reactors and coal fired plants are not part of the big business plans to make their profits. I'm being naïve with that last sustenance; everything revolves around profit. The monies that are needed to make change has to show some form of profit to the investor. No profit no change!!! Dan...
