  2. Success! With the help of many hands, over 200 rainbow trout were lifted over the dam! Thanks to the volunteers who braved the cold water. Cheers!

  3. I loved it and while I don't watch too many shows twice, this one will be an exception.. one of the fellows I spend time with up in the bush near Nipigon was at one time a resort owner there. He still maintains his trap line with the help of another trapper and the trap cabin he has is one of a kind.. great stories going back 50 years.. we still explore some of his old haunts if the trail allows us..

  4. Hey guys, just throwing this out there as spring arrives, I got into car stereo wiring in highschool and as my fishing passion took off I’ve now completely overhauled 3 boat’s marine electronics wiring systems including trolling motors, Humminbird and Garmin systems, networking and forward facing sonar amongst other projects helping friends with wiring their boats etc and have spent countless hours studying the perfect way to wire electronics for maximum output and clarity. im a boat electronics junky and I’m beginning to realize that this skill set is somewhat specialized, especially these days in as the car stereo industry has all but vanished. I’ve had some members inquire about wiring their own electronics and I’ve noticed that any companies working in this space making marine wiring harnesses such as sea clear power to me are 1. Extremely overpriced and 2 American based making it not the most accessible for Canadians. In simple terms, im offering a 100% plug and play wiring system customized for your boat that will allow your electronics to work perfectly once the harness is strung through your boat to wherever you plan on having your screens. So I’m throwing this out there to anyone listening, I could use a little extra cash at the moment to pay an expensive vet bill! I’ve been toying with the idea of making these wiring systems, even considering doing a little wiring as a side gig if there was any interest. So if anyone out there is interested or has considered upgrading their electronics but are intimidated by the idea of rewiring their boat please comment here or reach out, I’d love to have a chat about your application. Shoot me a message or comment here! *Edit - I never thought of this until now either, I’ve done a bit of car detailing on the side and can definitely offer that for boats as well! I can even high speed polish and re-surface fibreglass boats. from exterior cleaning, to interior, carpet cleaning and fibre glass treatments, shoot me a message, I’d love to talk about what you’d like your boat to look like! if you saw my 98 skeeter, you’d know what I’m talking about! im located in Georgetown and carling and can travel if needed.

  6. Unfortunately,I was unable to get to the Hamilton show last week, but made it to the Newmarket one. Arrived at 7:30 to help out David to up. Seems I was a bit late, but was able to help out as much as possible. Got to look over the tables before opening, and knew what I was getting at 10 am. NO SELLING til then, not even the vendors were allowed. This was nice to see. Man,that David never seems to age. He must lead a real good healthy life. LOL Ran into a couple of ,blast of the past members from here. 1 st guy Stody ( Jamie with his wife ) Never knew he was the owner of True North Baits until a week ago. Seems this is their full time job. He has some real nice baits and what a collection I must say. The plastic is top notch. So soft, yet durable. I had to grab some to support and try. The 2nd was UNCLE BUCK ( Goran ) If it was not for his towering frame,I would not of recognized him. Dude has lost some serious weight. He looked great. #1 son had me on the look out for salmon stuff and was able to grab this whole lot for $60. Not a bad savings, I think. Been a long time since I bought this stuff. I had to treat myself as well, so I picked up a few things. nothing really special. Gave David a sample of my baits and it looks like I will be tying til the next swap . Going to grab a table next year.

  9. Not to put a downer on your idea of helping (for money or not) with people's boat electrical installs/issues. Like Cliff said it could turn into something good, but I would strongly suggest you look into liability insurance; before you touch a "stranger's" boat. You could be in for a world of hurt if you burn a boat down or let the smoke out of an expensive piece of equipment; due to your installation/repair. You may be thinking it'll never happen, I'm careful, but things can go wrong that you had no idea that it just had. I understand your intent and I think it's a great idea; just cover your ass!!!!!!!!! Another thing is, that you'll likely find it hard to get insurance, due to you are not a registered business; it's a pretty vicious circle. Sorry but I'm talking from over 40 years of experience in the automotive repair business. I'd hate to see a young person get knocked on their ass for trying to move forward in their lives. Dan...

  13. Make your own. Get an old style pressure cooker; one that has the spigot in the lid. Coil up (In 8-10" loops) 10 feet of copper tubing; the same size as the cooker's spigot. Connect the coil to the spigot with a short section of hose and a couple of hose clamps. Hang the coil vertically with a downwards slop (Maybe 10-15°); with the other end of coil stuck inside an open container. Fill the cooker half way with tap water, put the lid on and then put the cooker on the heat to boil. You'll now have distilled water. Also if you're inclined; you can start making your own screech. LOL Dan.
