Been some years since last fishing upon North America’s record book lake trout stage, a small group of the finest gentlemen, eight us settled into Plummer’s Arctic Circle Lodge in the Northwest Territories… Didn’t actually think I’d ever be back but hey, fish happens!! And so yeah, just another bountiful slay with hundreds of hungry lakers for all, we wouldn’t expect anything less, but the trick for me is always catching “the one,” ya know!?

Anyways, this greying, red beard Viking shared a tin vessel with an ancient, melodious, white Wizard friend, our very own OFC'er Doug or "AkaSHAG" on the site here, and together we cast spells, whispered some secrets and sang fish tunes while plundering the incredible trout waters of Great Bear Lake.

Enormous lake trout from world record waters. Hundreds and hundreds of fish caught and northern scenery plenty might never see, if your pulse beats for fishing, you’d be either dead or dumb not to come along on this one. Link below

the boats must get full of laker slim every day.

Almost all of the fish were released boatside without ever being netted or brought aboard.  Basically, if it looked like at least 20 pounds or so, we netted it.  One of us is far more experienced and skillful in releasing big fish with a set of heavy duty long nose pliers and a twist of the wrist...........but I eventually kind of got the hang of it.  😉

Great read bunk.
cool that shag went with you.

Thanks Glen!

And truth be told, I went with Doug. Bear was his bucket-lister and I was happy to return with him.

Good call on the in water release.  I was thinking of the slime because I did a trip where we kept a few and my boat was wall to wall slime by the end of the week.
It’s nice to bring the younger guys because then you have somebody to carry your gear.
