lew Posted August 2 Report Posted August 2 My daughter was coming along hwy 407 last night and ran over a piece of metal on the road and the tire that hit it basically disappeared with nothing left but a band of rubber on either side of the rim. I've seen plenty of flat tires but nothing like this. Luckily those 2 strips protected the rim with zero damage. Just thought some may find this interesting. 1
ketchenany Posted August 3 Report Posted August 3 As long as she is ok that is the most important. I hit a tire on the 401 on dark November morning many years ago. Could not see it as it blended in. Tore the oil lines. Not a good feeling when the car lifts on one side. Stopped behind the guy that lost it. Not going fast as I was about to exit.
AKRISONER Posted August 13 Report Posted August 13 do you mind sharing what brand of tire that was? seems like a ridiculously catastrophic failure.
Snakecharmer Posted August 30 Report Posted August 30 I wonder if it was a really old tire / sun rot.
