Jim Hamm Posted March 10 Report Posted March 10 Hi I'm looking for a easy access point to shore fish on the Niagara river canada side. I have only been fishing for 2 years. Like to try salmon and steelhead fishing.
CrowMan Posted March 11 Report Posted March 11 Queenston if you don't want to hike. Whirlpool has better fishing but it's a huff n puff . It will be Steelhead this time of year.
BillM Posted March 11 Report Posted March 11 I'd find somewhere on the lower (Use Google maps for parking lots) and rip big swimbaits off the bottom. 1
steellee Posted March 14 Report Posted March 14 (edited) Only 3 good shore access points Queenston, Glen area(metal stairs) and the Whirlpool on the lower. Upper has Fort Erie under Peace Bridge but it's extremely sketchy wading if your new to it and some good water above the Falls but most of that is off limits now too.. Lost alot of access over the years but if you're cool with a hike there's a tonne of ground to cover. US side has some great water too and better access and trail system. Like was said Queenston is your only true easy access pull up and fish type situation and even than you can get crowded out by the regulars if the fishings particularly hot at the time you go Edited March 14 by steellee 1 1

I have read the United states side has a lot more access points to the river. 1 1
BillM Posted March 15 Report Posted March 15 The lower on the Canadian side has a bunch of spots, barely any wading required.. Art Park is a good drift (US side) but that involves the border, blah blah blah.

The steel stairs down has limited space at the bottom for fisherman. 1
