BrentS89 Posted August 11, 2019 Report Posted August 11, 2019 That would be a nice fish in the derby. The past few years the salmon have been a little small. 1
J Roelofsen Posted August 12, 2019 Report Posted August 12, 2019 There was a 30+lb caught on Manitoulin this week as well ? Josh 1
CRUD150 Posted August 12, 2019 Report Posted August 12, 2019 Fish caught #'s were down, but fish size were way up this year. Pretty well took a 17 pounder to get on the top 25 board. That means they are eating something out there! 1

rockin-steelhead Posted August 24, 2019 Report Posted August 24, 2019 The 29.5 was weighed in Owen Sound and is leading the derby now. 1
muskybw Posted August 24, 2019 Author Report Posted August 24, 2019 thanks, the pic on FB., doesn't really show its size ?
muskybw Posted September 2, 2019 Author Report Posted September 2, 2019 i was talking to a friend that fishes salmon & trout out of grand bend, says the salmon stomachs filled with SMELT, maybe that's why they are getting sooo big ???
Snidley Posted September 2, 2019 Report Posted September 2, 2019 That's good news because I've always been told that salmon can't survive on smelt. I bet it makes for a way tastier flesh on them as well. Thornbury here I come, lol 1
