Christmas crappie

I wonder if there's a unique opportunity this year to try open water crappie fishing in places like the Kawarthas? I think the water is around 4 C.

 

Have the crappie all checked the calendar and moved off to deeper water anyway, or do you think there might be some hanging out in some of the spring/fall haunts this year?

Putting my hitch on this weekend, and was going to try some of my go to early ice spots.

they usually stay shallow until ice up, one way to find out for sure.

was thinking of taking my tinner to div 15 to a couple all year stocker laker lakes put the trolling gear to some use
