sneak_e_pete Posted April 14, 2015 Report Posted April 14, 2015 Hi there, I want to move my gas tank to the front of the boat for better weight distribution. The hose is about a foot too short. Is there an easy way I can extend the fuel line? Thanks in advance!
Sinker Posted April 14, 2015 Report Posted April 14, 2015 Yep, you can buy it by the foot at most marine shops. S.
cheaptackle Posted April 14, 2015 Report Posted April 14, 2015 Last time I did one I took it apart at the primer bulb & tank fitting then inserted a new length of hose using simple gear clamps. Hose & clamps were bought at my local Home hardware and it took me almost a whole 1/2 hour to do the job - meaning quick and easy. I wrapped a bit of electrical tape around the clamps afterwards just to cover up the bit that sticks out after torquing them up and checking for no leaks. Michael
Paudash Posted April 14, 2015 Report Posted April 14, 2015 did the same thing a few years back, I pulled into the marina with the owner laughing at me as I pulled in with the nose way up. 5 mins and $10.00 later he added a 6 foot extension and problem solved
sneak_e_pete Posted April 15, 2015 Author Report Posted April 15, 2015 Thank you! Just did it and works great!
Mister G Posted April 15, 2015 Report Posted April 15, 2015 Just be careful as some of the newer outboards require a larger inside diameter hose then the older models called for.
sneak_e_pete Posted April 15, 2015 Author Report Posted April 15, 2015 Thanks. I used the same diameter.
