Today you never know what we have around here. I even seen a red/orange grass hopper. Went in grabbed the camera,when I returned,it was long gone. Dave Bailey Posted July 19, 2013 Report Share Posted July 19, 2013 If I recall correctly, all caterpillars with any sort of fuzz are moths, but there are some moth caterpillars without any fuzz, and if it's a butterfly caterpillar then it will not have fuzz. That leaves a grey area in the smooth-skinned group, but that one would definitely be a moth, in this case the white-marked tussock moth as Mark said. And yes, it's native.
