Locnar Posted July 2, 2013 Report Posted July 2, 2013 (edited) Went to a couple of river locations, and used a variety of lures and bait. At the new-to-me spot, I landed a few 1lbers using some smaller swimbaits. At my usual spot, I landed a few more 1-1.5lbers using spinnerbaits and the some whatsit jigs... then I tried something I've never done before, cut a big dead shiner in half and caught a 3lber using the head .. and a 4lber using the other half... within minutes of each other. Here's the only picture I got. It's of the 4lber, weighed and released. Edited July 2, 2013 by Locnar
Rich Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 Takes a pretty hungry bass to smash cut bait! Haha Nice fish.
Locnar Posted July 3, 2013 Author Report Posted July 3, 2013 I had already caught a number of smaller bass, so I figured... since I got these couple big dead minnows, I'll see if I can convince some bullheads to come play. So choppity chop, hookity hook and cast'r on oot. No catties, but definitely to my surprise were the two nice sized bass.
misfish Posted July 3, 2013 Report Posted July 3, 2013 Nice bucket. Cut bait eh?????????????? The new craze.LOL
Dave Bailey Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 Some say "fish or cut bait", you managed to do both!
