F-150 5.4L battery issues

Here's a question: have you removed the caps off the battery to check the electrolyte level?

Yes even these so called maintenance free batteries need to be checked from time to time.

You may find one or more cells are low.

Top up with distilled water (can get it at shoppers drugmart).

If the levels are ok, pull battery and put on charger then take into Canadian Tire and have them load test it.

These steps will rule out battery issues.

Mike, I have the same truck and year. Last night I couldn't start mine, turned over slow and nothing. Looks like I have to bite the bullet and buy a new one. Just wondering what make I should buy. The one that's in my truck is the original.

You could also try loading the alternator. With the truck running, turn on your high beams, blower on high with the defrosters on and let it run for a good 10-15mins. Sometimes it takes some load and time for the alternator to start dropping the voltage down. You could always take it to a shop and get an AVR test done and make sure they check for a draw. Shouldn't cost too much and it might be worth it, just because of the headaches you've been going through.
