What is that bar or stick .. beside the outboard?

Looks to be about 5' tall usually on the right hand side , but this example has 'em on both sides.

It might be a stupid question and something I should recognize and or know about , I have no clue?

 

My inquiring mind wants to know.

Power Pole, Motorized pole which sticks to the bottom anchoring your position. Mostly used for Saltwater fishing on the flats.

I guess that it would stop the boat from drifting around, opposite to being tied off the end of an anchor cord.... So you would be "stapled" to the bottom....

 

I could see myself using that for Pike.. but I'll make 'em out of Hardwood dowel.

Very popular now. Great for fishing docks or other shoreline structure, especailly when fishing wind blown shorelines.

Seen a boat here with them at the launch. I :dunno: asked what then heck is that? Like said. Anchors.Pretty cool idea.
