Has anyone around Sudbury checked out some local ice yet?

Not sure about Sudbury, but Nipissing is iced over just about as far as the eye can see from North Bay right now.

Went to Azilda this AM went out and did a few donuts with the 4 wheelers on Whitewater by the beach .... bro in law had the auger

5" we punched 4 holes over 15' fow.

Fish Bay on Nipissing had 3 or 4 inches this morning, less where the snow was drifted.

I knew it wouldn't be ready, but "wide open"?...that's not a good sign.

whitewater is barely anything more than a swamp, 15' is considered a deep hole, i was hoping to have the hut out on vermillion between boxing day and new years, but i'm doubtful with the late start we've had, but if we can keep the steady cold nights we've been having lately i just might make it.

where is whitewater? I go up to sudbury a lot, I fish lake laurentian <sp> for pike but only in spring summer fall.

whitewater is in the town of azilda NW of sudbury up hwy 144 towards timmins 10min out of sudbury core

if anyone knows where emma lake is (i think buster does) a small lake just west of whitewater, i have a student who was sledding out there on the friday, he said they punched holes all over the lake and the thinnest was 7",

sault ste. marie close enough for ya? i heard that people were out on paquette lake up on highway 552 this weekend. i wouldnt trust any ice this early but to each their own. i've fell through before and it aint fun tryin to get back out.

I fell through a pond today that looked to be safe. All the snow we've been getting here has really messed up the ice-making process. It wasn't a good time.

Well ya i know where that is , my brother in-law owns 900 acres on both sides of the lake! here is a small video from oct leaving the hunt camp from bear hunting

An Ice shelf broke off from under me on the dirty don river when I was 11. I was swimming, luckily I only lived a couple minutes away on the top of the ravine. Ice and water scared me. so does water period. but I cant seen to stay out of it
