aniceguy Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 I was in BPS last week and by chance I wanted to pick up a swing away tongue kit. I was told that BPS no longer sells them or installs them due to a security, and claims issues. Has anyone installed one and has anyone heard of just such a thing
silveradosheriff Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Love mine...is the only way I can get the boat in garage! Mine was from the factory - I believe Aaron Shirley knows a welding shop not far from you that does retro fits. :-)
Burtess Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 I got one for the wife for Christmas but she hasn't installed it yet Burt
vance Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 I have one too but it was installed at the factory and it is the only way I can get the garage door to close.Lots of the ones sold buy the original manufacturer of the trailer are a simple unbolt the old tongue and bolt in the new swing away tongue ,very simple to do and completely reliable. vance
icefisherman Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 I installed mine month ago. Got is as part of the package with my new boat. It is Fulton and of very good quality. No way to fit the boat in the garage without it. Easy installation - cut the tongue, drill few holes and bolt in the swing tongue....Dealer didn't want to install it for liability reason, so I did it myself. Cheers, Ice Fisherman
tizfun Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Central Outboard Marine in Markham has them.. I spoke with the guy in parts and he said they've installed a few without any complaints.. Give them a call.. Tiz
Fishn Technishn Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 I was going to install one on my old boat trailer but bought new one this summer with it already installed. I had saved this article just in case. http://www.bwbmag.com/output.cfm?id=1141615 By the way, I LOVE my swing away tongue....my shins have never been better. FT
Silver Tracker Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 I believe the Tracker Marine Shop at BPS has them or will install I call BPS before the thaw looking for an auger and was told they were completely sold out- Went to the store late in the day - they had maybe 200 of them I bought it from Le Baron instead- I get better service from the small local dealers and most of the time the price is the same or lower
bbog Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 Fishing buddy has one (a Fulton I believe) and it is sagging noticeably. Don't know if it's a bad install or what.
