  1. Its just another day
  2. Ice fishing for me....well, lets see. Its fishing, which I do all the time, just because its winter you don't stop fishing. Fishing in this neck of the woods is getting away from people, not going to visit. One or 2 good friends that you regularly fish with. Up at 4:30 have a coffee, wake up a little, toss your bag in the truck and go pick up your partner, or sit at the front door and wait for him to show up. heading out in the dark (you have seen the Dr's vids). Everything packed the night before. Head down the highway..its 20 freaking below out there and getting colder the further you get into the bush. 2 hour drive down a plowed gravel road to the spot where you park. Dam..this road ain't plowed this year...now we have a 30km snowmobile ride. Unload the snowmobiles...get em started...freaking cold pulling em over this morning...must be 25 below now...oh well, no clouds so it will be a sunny day. Hook up the sleigh and load that (yes...I remembered the minnows, I got a new cooler jug so they don't freeze this time). Head down the trail to the lake...winding hilly road but others have been here so the trail is well broken... 45 minutes later we are at the turnoff to the lake. The trail gets tight but this is what we do. Been here before..get through the woods and out onto the lake. We both know where we fish this one and head across. Pull into the bay and stop at shore. Untarp the sleigh, one gut grabs the auger, the other grabs the lines, minnows and hole scoop. Darn...we forgot to grab some gads on the way in ...head up the bank and into the bush through 5' of snow to get some suitable sticks. I hate forgetting gads...the ones you get at the lake are crap. We have the lake to ourselves. The rest of the day is spent getting a fire going (yes, we bring a chainsaw and gas for fires) toasting sandwiches, brewing coffee and catching a few fish. specs in close, lakers out a bit deeper. There are no crowds nobody else around. No radio because we like the quiet. End of the day pack up and head home. We get home somewhere between 8 and 10 at night. last thing we say is..how bout Walker lake next weekend? Sure, haven't been there in a while
  3. seniors day? another Hallmark holiday?
  4. lay in wait for the dude
  5. Dogs are supposed to be on a leash
  6. I just like drilling holes
  7. I was wondering how the ice was out there....thanks for the report
  8. gotta work on the double post feature too
  9. So its indefinite? I always figured a "month of Sundays" was about 30-31 weeks
  10. Boy o Boy... giving Roy another poke with the stick
  11. I use a snelled hook with about 10 lb at the flasher. the 20 is so I can kick a frozen hole open.

Nice..them perch are darn near keepers
  13. Nice video...but tisk tisk...8lb line...thats why i stick to my 20...there ain't no give when a big spec hits in 5' of water
  14. I'm pretty sure it affects your ability to hump it 10k back into a spec lake in the park.
  15. thats 40 mph for the yammie, 40 mph for the bombi and 39 for the suzi...119 mph...whats so unbelievable about that
  16. Yeah...Yamaha makes a 450 Kodiak..I had one sitting in my yard for 5 years till I sold it due to lack of use. My sled however has 13,000 km on it in 4 seasons. Figure out what you want the toy for and buy the one thats applicable. ATV's and snowmobiles are 2 entirely different things
  17. so you're saying we paid her to do a job for a year and got nothing for our money sounds about right
  18. I'm getting real close to pulling the pin on the HDS 7 with structure scan. any other opinions or experiences out there?
  19. lemme know when you get it...I'll take you to some new lakes. Not enough snow for trail riding so I may as well get a bit of fishing in. Walleye are hitting at Brimley...the wife can sit in the casino while you fish right outside the door
  20. She likely hepled that dumb we have up here with the no smoking in cars law too. Lets go see if she has her house sprinklered.
  21. A good claw hammer works too....but its not the intended purpose. But I guess when you're hiking in you keep the weight down
  22. Hey...lemme borrow your knife, I wanna split some firewood. Wouldn't you rather use the axe? No..I wanna try out your knife.
  23. Yeah..whodathought. I too figured they were just on par with Alabama...so far above really suprises me
  24. There is one nice little lake back there but I thinks its private. The snowmobile trail crosses a couple that I have seen holes drilled on..could be the same one. You gotta do some exploring
  25. Nice fish. Watch where you're going back there. Some lakes are closed right now. I have at times used 3 or 4 minnows to get a speck out of the hole. If you're fishing specs and lakers, always get a minnow back down the hole as fast as you can if you miss one.
