Proposed Military Testing Site in Haliburton/Baptiste/Benoir

i'm a business man and appreciate job creation. just another example of nimby'ism. Armatec will just find another plot of land...and this time they'll make sure they are in a less affluent area ...... -
i don't want to comment on this entire drama, however, if you think folks who are going to the leafs game are paying, your nutz. by far the vast majority of that arena is there for free. i've been to 30 some odd games in the last four years.....and brought three guests to all games.....not a penny paid. Toronto is a business hub... We can't give away free craptors or boring jays tickets....but leafs tickets....everyone wants to go.... Just wanted to clarify the notion that fans are "paying for the crap hockey"....maybe, and I mean "maybe" 15-20% of that arena is paying....maybe.

i would eat as much out of Hamilton Harbour as I would out of Niapenco. for the new to the country folk, i should clarify, that would be "nothing" out of either. bows from Port Dalhousie would be a better meal.

rich property owners got what they wanted.... not surprising in this great country of ours. -
Shimano. Love it. Anyone seen a lefty Curado "I" in Canada? Thank goodness they have decent (at best) service.

i still think the worst show was the one where the fella was pretending to do product testing in which his sponsor products won 9.5 / 10 times. now I hear he has a new show...third one in five years I believe. most recently i like the shows where Ron, Leo and the boys are fishing Lake Ontario with Jeff Chisholm....I learn a lot from Jeff..... he's one of the best trollers out there. he also gave credit to Scott Walcott for putting them on the area.

we did a late season bass trip there two years ago.... beautiful lake...not swampy like so many of the kawartha bog lakes. we found muskie around many area's. nothing big, but aggressive. we found some ok bass.....numbers, but not much in the way of size....likely due to the standard "kawartha pressure". reminded me a lot of lower buckhorn (just with more pressure).

Any thoughts on Canadian Health Care System?
Steve replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
if you have a serious need, you get treated immediately. just some folks feel every need is a serious need. i have a seizure disorder (not epilepsy, no one knows really whats wrong). however, when i was having seizures i had access to ct scans, mri's (multiple), eeg's, ecg's, etc. they thought i had a serious life threatening situation. once they confirmed i was not going to die, i was put down to the bottom of the line. no one cares anymore what is wrong with me. but i feel thats ok, because when they thought i was going to die, they treated me like gold... yes, if i lived in the states, and was willing to pay, i would maybe be looked into further.....but now, i'm on meds, and told to get used to it.... and I am.... i was lucky to learn i was not going to die....and had multiple tests to confirm it..... -

Bolland has no choice. He has to get back on the ice or no one will look at him seriously next year. At first he was being careful, in order not to re-injure. But now its getting so late unless he comes back strong, he'll be getting very low contract offers. I'm quite sure his agent said you had better get back on that ice!!!

if your not looking to fish big water, ie, erie, ontario, simcoe, st clair, etc, then go with whatever boat you find meets your price standards... but your friend is right - if you want to use your boat in remotely big water, i'd stay very far away from crackers and legends. if i was only looking for a boat for the grand river, i'd go with a flat back style canoe and a 2 hp outboard. if you want something wider, i'd go with a 14' lowe or similar. lowe makes what I call a "miniboat". that's a 14' with a 25hp motor, usually honda's. that would fit perfectly for your needs. but just understand, big water eats small boats....or all trackers/legends.

Coldest winter in 30 years...but some HOT fishing!

Rob, there isn't an angler in this province who can go from the boat/open water to the ice as successfully as you. Can't wait to see your early season open water adventures.... Browns with your glow frog cleo should be up next -
why are there so many part time jobs in Ontario

until your union screws you out of your money because their membership is reducing year by year, and more money is being paid out of it than going into it.... -
generally, when turning a reel handle in the tackle shop, you cannot tell the quality of the reel.... the drag, the most important thing on a reel, cannot be tested.... nor can the reel be tested under load (which is one of the most important things with a reel).... sub $100 dollar reels are made to feel good in the store....and they do.

muddler, is there a certain form of ballerina that you practice...you know, in order to better "be like a bruin"? is it the marchand dive or the chara spin .... or maybe the bergeron shuffle .... working your way up to the statue of liberty pose?

so its pretty clear from this thread employers who hire p/t workers are benefiting themselves. it's easier, cheaper, and allows you to be more 'flexible'. i guess if that's what it takes to maintain open doors, it does benefit the full time workers (albeit how few there may be) at a shop as well. its definitely a leading cause to the erosion of the middle class. -

my friend was towing with his hyundai santa fe and where the hitch attached to the frame broke... but not the hitch bar, but the frame! he was towing on the highway and his load struck the vehicle behind him.... it wasn't pretty. i'd be afraid to use a hyundai for anything that requires "working"....
