Electric Start Problem - 2003 Kodiak 450......nf
ch312 replied to ckrb2007's topic in General Discussion
i just have decent 12-14" homemade snorks. one 3" for the air box coming out between the pod and seat and the exhaust/intake for the cvt are up front on one side. for deep water just keep it in 2wd and you can work the throttle to keep the front end up for very long distances. i've even crossed the grand river down towards caledonia a couple times, but i think ill stick to ponds from now on... -
Electric Start Problem - 2003 Kodiak 450......nf

the key to preventing electrical problems (and stalling in deep water/heavy steam) on an atv is dielectric grease. it takes a while to go through almost every connection and contact point on the machine, but it's nice knowing corrosion and loose contacts won't cause problems. i like to use a small piece of masking tape on each wire to keep track of which connections have been greased. take apart your push start and get it cleaned up. then trace those wires both ways and make sure each of those connections is cleaned, greased, and secured. i often ride in water that's 5-10ft deep and have zero issues with electrical. gotta make sure you're electrical system is waterproof when riding like this as a stall at the wrong time results in a wet rider and hydro locked motor. saturday was the 5th time this year i had the pleasure of helping with a swamped atv. at least it was only a polaris and not my grizzly this time -
anyone can visit a gas station on the six nations reserve and get gas for at least 5 cents cheaper than off the res. but, you'll save much more if you have a gas card. since the gas cards are issued on the spot and there's basically no control, it's quite easy to find a native that will sell you their card. gas attendants don't ask and the seller will get a new card (for free) the next time they fill up. that said, i refuse to use gas from the reserve as it makes my atv run bad and i get lower MPG in both my truck and atv. i know of a few people that fill up out there and they've all seen the same thing. =

you'll want to spray over any existing insulation in your attic as its one of those things where you'll be doing more harm than good (ie. waste of time, messy, disposal fees). pink atticat is excellent stuff as there is very little airborn particles while spraying and more importantly it doesnt settle. you lose r value when attic insulation settles so this is an important thing to look at. cellulose is messy and has way too many airborn patticles that require a respirator and sealing off your access point to avoid making a mess in your house. i believe it settles as well. figure roughly 2 hours for 1000sq/ft at 2ft thick with pink.

well, whoever fed you that line was quite full of it. the first visit can cost you as low as $7 out of pocket after you get the $150 back for paying for the adviser. there's a reason many of the guys doing audits pulled in over $100k/yr before too many people started doing it. im still considering heading west to do the same. you'd be surprised by how much money can be made with such little training... i did my upgrades in 09 and 10 and ended up receiving $8000 in rebates and because i did all of the work myself, almost $4000 of that was profit. i couldnt believe how many people turned down the rare opportunity to have the government pay for your house to be upgraded back when the rebates were x2.

something doesnt make sense here... judges get paid quite well. lawyers usually make more then they deserve. too much money gets spent keeping crooks in jail. then you have jurors being forced to miss work and lose money. maybe things would change if everyone grew a backbone and refused jury duty until 75%+ of wages are compensated. but, this is canada. the land where people love getting screwed...dry.
-
i got the letter a few days ago... what happens if you don't respond? i'm assuming they'll tell you to go home after you make your judgement before court even starts? i'm all for doing the right thing, but i don't like the idea of being forced to lose hundreds of dollars per day with zero compensation. maybe take some money away from caring for the crooks in jail and put it towards compensation for jurors? nah, that would make sense

actually, its dark meat and they're pretty good as long as you trim off all the fat. considering their diet and living conditions, id rather eat a wild coon then a store bought chicken....

sure, if your kids are going to live in the basement and never leave the house. the fact is you never know when someone is going to cause an altercation and you can't always walk away. knowing how to defend yourself can be the difference between going home or ending up in the hospital. people that know what to do during a physical altercation will usually do much better than someone that tries to talk themselves out of a fight. they're usually the first ones to help someone when they're getting beat up too. that said, my kids will at least try kick boxing, judo, karate etc. if they like it, great. if not, thats their choice and thats great too.

Ok, I have a question regarding music downloads
ch312 replied to Big Cliff's topic in General Discussion
the purpose of these ridiculous lawsuits was to scare people away from downloading pirated music. that said, over the last 7-8 years i've had my internet shut down a few times for 2 weeks each time because of pirated software and music. but, after the 14 days was up they'd just hook me back up and i'd get right back at it. if you're going to download torrents you'll need to figure out how to download them so that your ISP doesn't know about it. they like to put a limit on your download speeds when downloading torrents which results in slooooow downloads. you need to go in the "back door" for MUCH faster torrent downloads  -
i currently have a 15hp tiller on my tinner and was pondering the idea of using it as a kicker on my new boat. i'd like it to have electric trim and steering with the wheel. is this an easy task? would it be more cost effective to sell this one and buy a unit already setup? how much $$$? thanks

disregard the following if you're bow hunting... does he have a valid PAL or did he just pass that course as well? i know you can get a temporary hunting license, but i dunno about the PAL. from what i remember, there is no temp. PAL which means you need to wait for your card to come in before you can buy a gun or hunt with a gun on your own. anyone have some input on this? as for the comment about firing the instructor for being wrong... if people got fired for making a mistake we wouldnt have any mechanics, doctors, lawyers, CO's, or instructors of any sort as they all make mistakes at one point in their careers.

i grabbed a set of dunlop radial rover rvxt 235 75 r15 for my old dakota and couldnt believe how good they were in snow and light mud. my 2wd dakota would only get stuck after she bottomed out after installing those tires. i ran them for 2 years before i sold the truck and they were barely worn and i think it was around 5-550 after taxes rom canada tire during a buy 3 get 1 free sale... now im in search of some reasonably priced winter tires for the ram. im kinda scared to look. lol

thanks everyone for all of the input. ive been lucky enough to not have to deal with an accident until now. reporting center said $1000. the corolla took it pretty good, but it needs a new bumper. id say it will probably be more than that. they went to the reporting center together but it was closed so she said she'd go back later. the gf is at the clinic now with a sore back. should we ask her pay the repair bill or call insurance to cover her ass if she has problems with her back? i wonder because of the somewhat minor visible damage to the car. the cause? she hit the gas instead of the brake...
-
so, the gf was stopped at a red light and someone rear ended her which pushed my gf into the guy in front of her. the lead guy left after saying his car wasnt damaged. im hoping this doesnt come back on the girlfriend for stopping too close to the guy in front. they exchanged info and the rear ender said she was going to the police to report the accident. its my car and insurance so odds are ill be the one dealing with this. what is the next step after the gf goes to the cop shop?

i called the service ontario "land transfer branch" in brantford and was told that everything is electronic now and this can't be done without a lawyer. you could do it yourself before everything went electronic, but not now. hopefully i just called the wrong place?
-
i fished there twice last year when the place was quite busy by the bridge without having a pass. if questioned, i was fully prepared to hop in the middle of the river and casually make weird faces while taunting them. $40 just so i can wet a line? riiiiiiight
-
service ontario? really? i guess i'll be heading to the office tomorrow to get thing's started. i don't like the idea of a lawyer pocketing $200+ for something i can do myself. many thanks, balsam laker

is it possible to remove a co-signer (family) from the title of a mortgage free house without using a lawyer? it will make thing's much easier for me in the future, but it's more of a convenience thing. i'm not liking the quotes of $425+ for a lawyer to do it. can i do it myself? any OFNers wanna give me a deal?
-
...and don't forget that there's always much better place to work while making more money. the only problem is trying to find that job. i'm quitting my job this winter to try and get my own business going. hopefully i don't end up posting a thread like this come feb/march

i was under the impression that the polar kraft out the door price included taxes and with the lund i'd have to pay all taxes/duty at the border. i couldnt find the tax % on the website...
-
new 2011 lund 1775 impact 125 optimax 9.9 bigfoot kicker with trim and tilt $24000 out the door. how much should i expect to pay for taxes and importing fees? is a price like that worth driving 700 kms one way to get the boat in michigan? i've never done the importing thing before. option 2 is in ontario and is a new 2011 polar kraft 179 tc with 90hp e tec, electric trolling, fish finder, full covers. $22,500 out the door. it's taken me a few weeks, but i've finally narrowed twit down to two. which one would you take and why.

how much is insurance on that bike? i got my m1 and a new 09 yamaha xt250 enduro this past spring. its an awesome starter bike, cheap to buy, and insurance is $35/month for me. state farm wouldnt give me a discount if i did the course so i just did the mto test. it was VERY easy to do. i didnt even buy the motorcycle handbook and i still aced the m1 and m2 tests.

x2 i can legally toss my unloaded 870 over my shoulder, hop on my enduro, and drive through city streets to get to my hunting area. would i? hell no. you're just asking for headaches from ignorant folks that have no clue, including MANY cops. i'd simply trigger lock it and use a soft case to keep it out of site. you can walk, ride a bike, atv (if atv is legal on your roads), e-bike, motorcycle, car, truck, etc with your firearm and be fully legal unless your city has a no firearm bylaw (unheard of?). this is directly from the rcmp website... http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/fs-fd/PDF/storage-entreposage-eng.pdf Transporting Firearms Safely Non-restricted firearms Unload your firearms. Muzzleloaders can be kept loaded when being transported between hunting sites, but the firing cap or flint must be removed. Restricted and prohibited firearms Unload the firearms; and Attach secure locking devices to the firearms; and Lock the firearms in a sturdy, non-transparent container; and Remove the bolts or bolt carriers from any automatic firearms (if removable). Obtain an Authorization to Transport (call 1-800-731-4000). Leaving any class of firearms in an unattended vehicle Lock non-restricted firearms and locked containers carrying restricted or prohibited firearms in the trunk or in a similar lockable compartment. If the vehicle does not have a trunk or lockable compartment, put firearms and firearm containers out of sight inside the vehicle and lock the vehicle. If you are in a remote wilderness area and cannot lock your non-restricted firearms inside your vehicle, unload them and put them out of sight. Attach a secure locking device to the firearms unless they are needed for predator control. Shipping firearms Firearms must be unloaded, packaged and shipped without ammunition in a safe and secure manner to prevent accidents and deter loss or theft.
