A couple of comments to make. First of all there are lakes in decline from overfishing. Nipissing is one of them. When I was a kid there were a few fish shacks scattered here and there in the winter. Now you can hardly see the shoreline for the city of huts on it. A lot of them are the hut rental guys trying to make a buck. I don't blame them, but I think that some more of them could maybe contribute more back into the lake in the restocking program. Quite a few contribute nothing back. Secondly is the technology factor. Sonar and GPS makes it easier to locate and catch the fish on a consistent basis. They have nowhere to hide anymore. This is true everywhere. Twenty years ago I could go to 3 or 4 different spots and catch a few. Now I have at least 50 spots marked on a GPS and the fish are definitely not as plentiful. Commercial fishing also takes a toll. I have been on this lake for 50 years and have seen the changes in that time. There are also environmental issues. Weed beds that had disappeared 40 years ago are beginning to make a rebound. Why they disappeared to begin with I don't know for sure but have some suspicions. So I guess what I'm trying to say is if things continue the way they are now, it will become a fished out lake.

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha. Seagulls only eat the eyes out of the Sheepshead in Nipissing. They cant be good if they don't eat 'em.

Do you find it's necessary to choke it more to keep it running? I think you may have a plugged up fuel jet in the carb. As soon as you add a load to the engine the governor opens the throttle up but the fuel isnt there to keep it going.

Was talking to a fellow today and said the ice on Fish Bay has actually gotten thinner. The show has insulated the ice so much that ground heat has eroded away at what was there before. Long range looks cold for the next few days and the snow has settled some so it should add some inches soon.

No snow here so I did a little Christmas decorating. Whoops ...I see that flag is from Alabama

It is an insurance policy basically. Sometimes you need it, most of the time you don't. A gamble.

About 14 years ago I was fed up with my boss. Loaded up my toolbox and out the door. On my way home after the cooldown I said to myself "Geeez...NOW WHAT????" I had plans to open my own shop at some point. Well, now or never. So I went ahead and did it. Lots of hard work, especially the first 5 years. But now its really showing fruits of labor. Its still not without problems but at least you control your own destiny and have no one to blame but yourself if things go for a crap. And you can sneak out for a day once in a while or leave early once you are established. Good luck with whatever takes place in your future.

My dog looks very similar to yours. And he is about the same age. He's a great dog.

Definitely a summer to remember Cliff. You and Carole have a great outlook on life (and fishing). Throughly enjoyed that day fishing with you folks.

Gerritt, I can relate somewhat to this story. Our youngest son has difficulties as well. Not near a severe as this case but still needs constant care. I have learned twice as much from Alexander as he has learned from me. Love, patience and understanding are the first things that come to mind. He has a few words he can speak but very limited.Alex thinks differently than normal people but in some ways is much smarter. He notices everything, especially the small things that we never even give a second look, remembers places and people. He loves animals and they love him too. We were brought up Catholic and Alex loves anything that is religiously related. I'm sure he knows God personally in his heart and mind. He is 19 now and we love him dearly. Some may think Alex is strange but to me he isn't, he is Alex and always will be. I could go on but this is just to remind us all to be kind to those that are different from us in some manner and have a little patience and understanding for them. Thanks for posting Gerritt.

Just seen on another board that someone went down on Nipissing a few minutes ago on a sled. Hope they find Him/Her.

From what I understand there is no warranty on a Skidoo/Seadoo brought into Canada from the US----period. Bombardier would not allow us to sell to a US resident unless they have a Canadian address. We are also not allowed to ship to some country's in Europe.

I'm very sorry for your loss of family and good friend. Very tragic.

Was looking at the amount of hours in a day on the weather network. After tomorrow we start to gain daylight in the evenings again. We will continue to lose time on the sunrise until the first week in January. So spring is just around the corner. Just a little wishful thinking. Ya I know, its WAAAAAAAYYYY to early to think about it yet.

I got so worried about it that at 5AM this morning went to the local Wally and got er done. Well a little bit of it anyway. It sure is the time of day to go at this point in time, nice and quiet.

I have always thought that the high thrust engines were designed for pushing sailboats and such. I believe they have a lower gear ratio in the lower unit and a larger propeller. Beat me to it Wayne. Maybe a nice little Honda inverter generator,and forget all the battery's.
