Somedays the drive to work is intolerable.....but only because I'm going to work. It's only a block away.

I'm surprised you didn't catch hell for that statement. Maybe it's true?

I was on Nipissing on the weekend. It was very cold here Friday and Saturday (well below freezing) but the sun was shining bright. In areas around the cottage there was open water by Saturday evening. The sun becomes very intense and will melt the ice in areas of rocky shorelines and shoals. There was a spot in a channel about a kilometer away from me near a 10 meter high rock shore that was wide open over a large area. It's surprising how quickly ice can deteriorate.

Not great for customer relations on their part. Another shop looks like a good option Glen. Hope you get mobile on the water soon though. You catch many more like that from shore and you wont bother to get it fixed.

Freeze it or eat it is my rule of thumb. Fresh off the fish and into the pan is best.

That looks like a fun catch on light tackle Glen. Good stuff! By the way, have you figured out what is up with your engine? I may have missed an update on it. Last I heard it was possibly a fuel problem.

I had one stolen as well Terry. Had just completed an overhaul on it and ready for the trail. Some dude stole it before I had a chance to use it. I will keep an eye out for it in case it ends up up here. God I hope they catch him.

Thank you again folks, great input! The next thing is to go and have a look at what we would like. It makes it a lot easier to make a decision with some information. But of course I could always trust the sales guy to help out, right?

Boy you really are trying to turn over a new leaf! Bill. I'm not positive but someone told me it's no longer available to do on-line.

Thank you to all for the replies. Technology is great but it becomes a wait and see thing. There isn't a panic to get one but you wait six months and then you hear of something else new. O well summer is coming and won't be much TV watching anyway(other than NASCAR). Blue Ray seems to have won out from what I understand. Just what it means I'm not sure yet. I did get a glimpse of the new display technology Joe. Apparently an LCD that doesn't need a backlight. Crazy expensive right now though. Thank you for the offer Gerritt, I will definitely keep that in mind! Maybe I'll just go fishing.

Never had any issues with my Panasonic. Well that is until the kids broke the screen. I suppose an extended warranty may be a good idea until this newer stuff gets a few more years under it. Major purchases I wont cheap out on. Just don't want to buy and find out six months later it's half the price. Ya, I know it can happen. But I have been putting this purchase off for a while hoping the technology will just hold still for more than the 6 months. Is there anything earthshattering coming out soon? Hmmmmm, pay yer money and take yer chances. Dammit!

Fireball, that is hilarious. Funny and true! Sorry Cliff. Same adjective.

Hello folks. Thinking about getting a new TV. I have an 9 year old Panasonic 50" rear projection thats seen better days. I would like to stay with a larger screen as it is a fairly large room. There seems to be a multitude of choices out there now. Plasma, LCD and rear projection LCD. Its not imperative that it needs to be thin because as I said there is lots of space. Researching, to be truthful, has only confused me more. Plasma so its said is better for faster action with less blurring but isn't as good in a brighter room. Also they can be power hungry. LCD apparently has less glare on the screen but can blur in fast action. My next question is where is the best place to buy a TV these days? Used to be our local furniture guy but it seems technology has overtaken him as well as pricing. I would love to buy from him but he doesn't seem too interested in selling TV's anymore. What are your thoughts and experiences? Thank you.

Don't get too down and out G. You could end up like this guy.

JK Gerritt. Came across this and I needed a place to put it. LOL

Years ago when working in a car dealership service department I overheard a salesman say that to a customer. Turned out he knew the guy pretty good. But to seriously answer the question presented think of it this way. It's not a car you are riding in where if it quits or leaks water you can get out and stand on solid ground. It's too old to be trusted. There will be one thing after another to go wrong. The motor is older than I am and I'm 51. Sorry but it's true. Seen it many many times. How much is aluminum a pound?

How much gas in the tank?

Terrific fishing you two. Gotta just love hauling a fish like those in. AWESOME!!!! Take me with you the next time and I will net 'em for ya! -
I also need regular glasses for reading (and tyeing up fishing line). Recently found out that safety glasses are now available with bifocals. So I checked to see if they also came shaded. Low and behold--they do. So I ordered 3 pair in varying focal strength. For the tidy sum of $6 bucks each. They fit pretty good. Fully adjustable like most safety glasses. Now if could just convince them to polarize them.

Fisherman is right. A compression test is only one step of checking out a used outboard. Also if it's a 2 stroke it may look ok but was quality oil used? Personally I think if the guy won't let you get it checked out I would be suspicious of an issue. Ask him to come along with you to have it looked at.

Squirrels...dang squirrels. Should be squirrel proofed now. The stuff above had accumulated in the past. Hopefully no more. Thank you for your concern Bonghitts.
