I'd take the motor off and peen the rivets. Then get a transom saver and hopefully you'll be good to go. I wouldn't worry too much about the 2X2, though you may have to replace it from time to time if it's not treated (and I don't mean pressure treated!).

I'll be fine regardless, I've swapped out my aluminium foil hat for one made of 1/4" plate. I'm however confined to the house during electrical storms.....

Many years back now Joe I built a deck using 2"X6"X18' PT boards that I sourced through Rona Cashway. Not sure if that helps.

Solid fish. I have had more than a few over the years straighten out some big hooks, including a large Siwash.....strong fish!

I see. Well the fitting you showed in the link is the same as the tank fitting I had for my 25 horse Johnson. I believe it's a standard fitting and once installed on the tank you should be good to go.
