  1. String Ease Stay-Lok™ Bite Proof Tippet * Stay-Lok Snap on one end and a closed loop on the other. * 26 pound test leader material made from a 49 strand cable. * Very flexible and kink resistant Or their Flouro Leaders works for me Richard
  2. I've been bit off like everybody else, Big Jim put a seminar on a couple of years ago & said he was using 130lb Flouro leaders pre made so I bought some 130 & 80lb leaders and have had good luck with them but this year I set the hook & brought in 1/2 the leader 80lb flouro bit off, only used 130lb once and unless I'm fishing big fish water I'll likely stay with 80lb flouro and some wire leaders, can't think of the name right now Richard
  3. River was higher then I like for fishing but great for canoeing, 2 canoes and a buddy took his 13' boat, my canoe caught 3 or 4 smbass 1 to 2 lbs between us we had 5 toothy critters on from 12" to 40+" but none in the net, I guess yesterday the fishies won but we still enjoyed a beautiful day on the water, can't wait to do it again after bass season opens when we can target them as well Richard :Gonefishing: :Gonefishing:
  4. She's all over but the crying :Gonefishing: :Gonefishing: :Gonefishing: :G
  5. I have come across fences between Bluevale & Wingham, Wroxeter & Wingham, & Wingham & Auburn, & Teeswater & Riversdale, I have canoed with Scouts And Families over the years and a fence can be a hazard when you come around a corner or threw rapids and come across one that technically isn't supposed to be there Richard
  6. I have canoed lots of small rivers in my area & when looking into it I was told that land owners can't fence a navigable river or you can cut it, I never have but push come to shove how knows, If you come across a small bridge or beaver dam the land owners can't stop you from getting out walking on their land and getting back in your canoe, never had a problem with this either, lots of cow bridges and a few beaver dams, try a canoe or kayak Thanx Richard
  7. I was down May 29 I think & bought 2 left handed Extreme reels they were the last 2 they had that day or I might have bought more, I have 6 or so now only trouble is I had a spool split, but it was the 1st one I bought & it was $100.00 for the combo when Hully Gully 1st started carry BPS, no complaints here, also have Shimano, Quantum & Abu Garcia & the Abu's have given me the most trouble, likely have 50 rods from $30. combos to $400. outfit with 15 to 20 used mostly Richard
  8. Power Pro is the only braid I've liked so far most of my rods had Power Pro 20 to 65 lb but now most are XPS Flouro Clear 10lb spinning & 15lb baitcasting, Suffix 12, 14, 17, P-Line 10, 15, Andes, as you can see totally brand loyal, tried Vanish sucked, Crystal Sucked, Gorilla sucked & original Fire line really sucked Richard
  9. Don't forget about the pike at both Richard quote name='Twocoda' date='Jun 8 2009, 07:05 PM' post='349876'] Also for consideration ...Erin Lake or Chesley Lake ....Walleye smallies and perch
  10. I see 10 of them lures that I have & a lot more maybe we can help narrow down which one to use 1st, Oh yah I think I'll throw a Spinnerbait 1st but 2nd then top right maybe 3rd from top middle no may be bottom left how be you pick & lets vote on it Richard :wallbash:
  11. I've been to Bass Lake a few times it's a nice lake good bass Ontario Junior bass team had some tourney's there and we did very well when we prefished with our kids, panfish and Walleye though I never fished for them, wind doesn't really affect you there, only at Long Point once & didn't do very good water was very dirty Richard
  12. Talked to Joselyn earlier this year and he liked the Shimano Citica made a few cast with it I'll buy one for my next reel I think Richard
  13. No crown land 2 Conservation areas 1 only accessable by water Richard :Gonefishing: :Gonefishing:
  14. Strickly personal I have both and use them equally, but really like my Calcutta 151 & Curado, alot of reels come in low & hi speed reteives, ask a buddy to try one, or at the bait shop, Angling Outfitters in Woodstock will let you take one out side to try it Richard
  15. Saugeen Bluffs great spot and good fishing Richard
  16. Tried my area did you some nice fish there if you can get them, try it after Bass opens, I've had some success there smallies and pike Richard
  17. I haven't been there for a few years but I used to rent boats from Mc Donald's camp on the Saugeen for my kids birthday, we fished across the river between the bridge and the merc marina don't remember the name, mostly afternoon threw the evening using worms, we always got catfish and the odd sheephead, the guy running the camp was always a great help even helped clean what we kept, the birthday's are May 15 & 30, so we were fishing some time between then and the middle of June, was thinking of trying it this year but don't know if I can find the time. hopefully canoeing the Saugeen this Saturday, toothy critters Richard :Gonefishing: :Gonefishing:
  18. I'd have a short rope or chain on the motor to the boat just in case, beats shore fishing or bumming rides when ever you can Richard
  19. Excellent report and it looks like Sydney figured out the real meaning for PA day Professional ANGLERS day Very successful day, good luck tomorrow, wish I didn't have to work Richard :clapping: :clapping:
  20. Great to see you having fun Richard
  21. I was at BPS a week ago Friday with no intention of buying a reel and ended up buy 2 BPS Extremes for $39.00 each, I've had a couple of them already and didn't mind them for an extra, not sure if it was a fathers day thing or not, just walking by and saw them Richard
  22. I had 2 kids with me for years, if you get right in to canoeing think about buying a second one for your wife and oldest & you take your youngest you won't regret it, at age 12 my daughter was experienced enough to start canoeing with a friend & had no problems she is now 24 & I get to start all over with my 3 yr old grand daughter this year, we planned canoe trip with up to 36 people on kids runs hopefully going to restart them this year again, most camped over night at the Saugeen Bluffs for 1 or 2 nights. Best of luck enjoy teaching them how to canoe it will always be part of them & your great memories Richard
  23. I have a 16' Big Chief with keel & a 17' Cowan with out keel, Paddle Saugeen and Maitland Rivers mostly very little portaging if any, both are stable but the 17' has more room for tackle and you can never take enough tackle, for years I took 2 kids in one canoe and camped over night, started out with my 2 & 3 year old beside each other in the front seat, worked good, one paddled each side and when they got bored they could play a game, then they took turns front and middle, now they go in canoes beside me, try going to an outfitter and asking to try the canoe out lots of places have trial days on a body of water, Richard
  24. Got to go with my handle Spinnerbait on Saugeen River but right now X-Rap, opening of Bass XPS Crankbait Blue & White Richard
  25. Great post I've had a few days were my kids crashed in the boat & canoe over the years. Richard
