Drove 2.5 hours to Bass lake last year to meet with Rich Nagy, nice weather till I got there, as we were getting ready to go out a storm moved threw so we waited, after it cleared off we thought we try again & another front moved threw, so we waited a while longer, headed out to the west end & started fishing about 1/2 an hour & thunder started but we knew we wouldn't make it back so we headed to the private dock at that end tied up & went & sat under a dining tent till it quit than we headed back out for the rest of the day, it was a little tough fishing after that but we both caught fish & agreed on every thing we did as far as do we fish or quit. I fish days I can get away so I'll heads to the lake & hope the weather clears usually, rather than stay at home & the weather be wrong & miss out on fishing Richard

Spinnerbaits & Crankbaits start shallow & head deep if you need too, I have had some good days with red spinnerbaits on low light days, some times bigger blades than usual Richard

Talked to my father tonight he lives in Wiarton, he said their catching Trout off the shore north of the Marina at the little park, last night a guy caught a 10 lbs rainbow & had lost 4 more before that, while dad was there the same guy caught a 13.6 lb rainbow, not bad for a night out, I will be up there tomorrow I'll try to find out more, in the last week dad has caught a few trout & a coho. We'll be fishing one of the local lakes for bass tomorrow, I'm not into Rainbow fishing very much, Richard

A 5 gallon pail will carry your cellphone, camera, dry clothes, rain poncho or any thing else & they float, best of all you can get them free lots of places Richard
-
I'm not an expert but while canoeing I've always taught my kids, Scouts, Guides, friends kids or any one that I was with to kneel down when you canoe your centre of gravity lowers & I've never tipped a canoe except for teaching purposes, mostly Scouts, Guides & youth leaders at a couple local camps over the years, 5 gallon pails work great for keeping things dry & safe tie them to the canoe & enjoy the time on the water. You can go places with a canoe or kayak you can't get with anything else, Glad everyone was OK, Life jackets are a good idea Richard

Our club is a member of the Canadian Bass Anglers Federation & we voted to affiliate with The Bass Federation FLW last winter & the magazine is part of our membership, ends up it was a sweet deal & now 6 boaters & 6 non boaters get to go fish Lake Champlain as Team Ontario & I'm 1 of the lucky ones that made the team this year, so if you like fishing Tourney's & want to learn from a bunch of good guys or be part of the guys teaching the new guys check out the CBAF web site for a club near you Come Join & have some Fun Richard

My buddy has a 13' tinny for running the Saugeen River & small lakes with an electric on front & a 15 or 2.5 on the back, it works good but I wonder if a 14' jon boat would be better, I have a 16' & 17' canoe and both are ok But the 17 is what I use for fishing & canoeing, I always had 2 kids in the canoe when running the Saugeen, my 2yr old son & 3 yr old daughter, at 11 my daughter started canoeing with a friend & has ever since, My Grand daughter was 3 this year & i'm hoping to get her on an over nighter on the Saugeen this year yet. Richard

I was a scout leader for years & we bought dozens of them not sure what the cost would be now, but I've had 3 of them for over 15 years they are the best for canoeing, I kneel down when canoeing and the only thing that gets wet is your arm. Google Scouts Canada to find closest location to you Tight Lines Richard

If I'm fishing any where there is Bass I would have spinnerbaits, crankbaits & likely some tubes or what ever soft plastic you like, top water would be good also, as far as location I've never fished that lake but Ted will help you, he has a small tackle shop. Tight Lines Richard -

Was it a good turn out or just plain nuts with people, I would be interested in that Tourney if they do it again, I went their a few times when they had the Pike Tourney there years ago & it was a good time even though we never won any thing Richard
-
I would say you can go fishing just don't catch any thing & you should be fine MAYBE, honestly though I would have it looked at it looks nasty Tight Lines Richard

Glad to hear every thing is OK not trying to steer any one away from here but before I went to St Clair for the 1st time I visited this site & contacted the store, I forget the ladies name but she was very helpful & had us on fish right away http://www.basshavencanada.com/ We ended up using there ramp & fishing Mitchel's Bay area but she knew what was going on & the people on the site were helpful too, in case you get a chance to go again or any one else does, we caught smbass, lmbass, perch, pike, bluegill & lost a musky at boat side Tight Lines Richard

Depending on when your going threw Wiarton Outback Tackle is at the top of the hill on the north end behind the Motel on the Right go in there and ask Ted he could likely help you out, I fish a few lakes up there but from a boat & there is not much for shore fishing were I go Tight Lines Richard
