  1. Losing pets is rough. Some people don't seem to understand. The pain of burying our first ferret a few years back was brutal. I can't ever do that again. Sorry to hear.
  2. Thanks! I'll check it out. Also, I looked up the one you mentioned first, and I couldn't find that exact title, but I found a short 9-10 minute video on YouTube about it, and realized I had already watched it. I want more of that, but like a thousand times longer.
  3. Stick 'em in Skipper D's pockets..
  4. Wow, sounds like you're probably going to catch asthma and cancer, then.. Nope... Don't watch Olympics, and don't have TV service either. I also don't have a landline with Bell. All internet here, baby!
  5. I heard you can land sharks with a Voltaeus! (I love mine)
  6. That reminds me of when I lived in Toronto..
  7. "Usually"? What do you do the rest of the time? Whack it with an oar? (Stop invasive species!)
  8. Prodigy? Hahah, hardly. I fished a lot from ages 5-15... I just didn't know rules or proper presentation. Mostly did what the adults were doing. Hmm, cool. I'll see if it's at the shop when I go and give it a try. This Super Slick PP also sounds good to me, too. I'll add it to my own list to try out.
  9. HAHA, yeah, I knew that. I don't know why I wrote eyes.
  10. Condolences to Simon.. Very sad news.
  11. I, too, am a mono fan, but this year I've used PowerPro, Fireline Fused Crystal, and Tuf-Line Duracast, as far as super lines go. So far, I've preferred the Duracast. I was using the green 12lb line (diameter was about the same as 6lb mono I guess), and I still caught three small brook trout with it (and lost others). It's smooth like mono, so it doesn't make the noise that PowerPro does going through the metal guides on my rod and it doesn't lose its color. Quantitatively, I didn't have as many issues with memory or wind knots or fraying as I did with other lines (including monos like Suffix Elite), but I'm now casting to the end of my spool so it's time to get a new line. I am going to keep trying other stuff, but so far I've liked it. It feels and acts somewhere in between mono and braid, I find. I'm sure there's someone here who has some horror story about it, though. (Edit: I just glanced back over the thread and yeah, someone already posted they don't like it. ) I need to respool before the weekend trip to go for trout (weather permitting), and I'm not sure if I'll just put 4lb Trilene XL on there for that, or try out something new like NanoFil, Suffix 832, Fireline Fused Original, or Spiderwire.
  12. Thanks. I did see them before. I watched a bit of it before, but it seemed to be more of a, "watch other people fish" show than the documentary style that I'm after - less about fishing, more about fish. But it's probably a good resource for when I want to learn new fishing techniques.
  13. Thanks all. I'll look around for these and others that seem good. It's so cool to see underwater footage of fish and learn about them. Being above the water all the time, this type of thing helps me appreciate and understand them a lot more. I'm excited to get my hands on more.
  14. Danforths are not so good on rock or grass bottoms. Maybe that's part of your problem? Maybe a Bruce would be better for your bottom conditions?
  15. You're supposed to kill them, right?
  16. If you're looking for a cheaper rod that has a lifetime warranty and is supposed to be durable, then the Ugly Stik is for you. If you want all of that but also want to feel your lure's action, I'd suggest a Voltaeus. I have not really much experience outside of these two rods, but I can feel so much more after ditching the Stik.
  17. I went back and read it too after Miracon mentioned it, and it was hilarious! I did actually laugh out loud several times while picturing it in my head. And I was thinking Monty Python before you mentioned it, hahaha
  18. You're not fooling anyone. We know you've seen this before!
  19. CT's customer service is sometimes sketchy in my area... (I believe the company as a whole changed their policies in recent times, but I could be wrong on that). Be sure you ask them about it, and if it were me, I'd be getting it writing. Some day, when I have extra money, I plan to get a St. Croix. Until then, my $50 rod with lifetime warranty will do.
  20. I have this thing about me where, when I do something, I do it intensely, and it usually comes in cycles. I'll go through a photography phase where that's all I do for a while, trying to get all kinds of cool pics, reading photography books, etc. Then I have a music phase where I'll write and record a bunch of stuff in a row, and a game phase, where I drop like 120 hours on something like Fallout 3. There are other phases, and they all come and go periodically. Since the start of summer, fishing joined the rotation, but hasn't left yet (and won't until the snow starts falling). I have learned to balance most of my hobbies out a bit better now, but I am so interested in fishing and fish at the moment, I want to watch a bunch of videos about it. Not so much the traditional guy-pulls-in-30-fish-in-30-minutes type of shows, but more like long documentaries, preferably species-specific or area-specific (Ontario, especially Temagami and north of it). For example, one I saw recently was called The Underwater World of Trout. In that video, they went into detail about trout (mostly brook trout) feeding and habitat, they explained how fast they can move, how they stay still in flowing water, and more. They showed efforts to protect a roadside stream throughout a widening, they talked about stocking, and so on. It was really interesting and in-depth stuff! I want to buy a bunch of videos like this to fuel my fishing fire. Do any of you guys know any good ones? Species I'm most interested in learning more about are of course the various trout, pike, smallmouth, walleye, and even perch and whitefish. If nobody has any good recommendations, I may just buy a handful that looked good from the title/description, and hope I luck out. Thanks!
  21. Thanks for sharing that. I found it pretty cool to see. Do you have one with a poodle?
