Well I was skunked today for the first time since April, only saw 1 pike that nipped at my bucktail. I blame the lightning for shortening my day by 4-5 hours. Monday I had my best pike day by far (in terms of numbers) catching 7 pike (had one on that was close to 40" but shook the hooks when I turned to grab the net), about 8 more hits and 2 musky follows (mid 30's and 40"er).

I've always kind of wondered, does anybody consider it being skunked if you're targetting 1 species, but catch another instead? Say you're fishing wlleye but catch bass, or musky but instead catch only pike, is that being "skunked"?

No musky, but a new PB pike, 30.5".

Do you fish by yourself or always with a partner? A cradle isn't very good fishing alone, even more difficult in a canoe. A net would be better for a canoe.

Another reason not to try to hand land them lol.

Musky Mike recomended those to me, I picked one up and they are great! Well worth the price.

So how did everybody make out? I only managed 1 pike since musky opened (caught a small one Friday) but with how tough it was even finding a musky, I'll gladly take it. Plus I beat my previous best pike by an inch (my old PB was my very first, 29.5" caught last June), caught on a bucktail. Nice to finally get a 30" pike after catching 2 that were 29.5" last year. Had another pike just miss a different bucktail on sat, had a hit and a miss on a jerkbait too (didn't see what it was) and a big blow up on a figure 8 Sat night after I pulled my lure out of the water. Stupid me, I thought there was no fish around and never kept the figure 8 going longer than a couple of turns. This morning I caught 1 small bass who's eyes were bigger than his belly, then the aforementioned pike. Funny, the pike blew up and missed my bucktail 4-5 feet from the boat, I got a good look at him and was hoping he might try to hit again since I never got any hooks in him so I backed up and worked the area again and got him after 10-15 more casts.

Saw tons of them in the Trent today and yesterday, all over the place. Saw some people carp fising too which I don't often see.

Nice musky! Didn't get one this weekend but I did end up catching a new personal best pike.

Congrats! Really nice walleye. Gotta be fun when you think a walleye is a musky.

I use the revo toro winch for bucktails and I like it, has a good feel in your hand as well. Can't burn them really fast but you can cast double 10's all day long with it.

Yeah, I've had pike turning on a figure 8 boatside while my buddy's 2 stroke was going right behind me, didn't seem to bother him. I use my trolling motor a bit but usually just the main motor. If I had foot pedals though I think I'd definetely use it more.

I'll be heading there next Sunday, going with my brother who's never fished musky before so hopefully we get into some fish.

Casting for sure for me, maybe break it up with some trolling later on to stay fresh. I think the first lure I'll be using will be a new walk the dog topwater I'm dying to try out early Sat morning, see if I can at least get a musky to show herself early on.

Georgian Bay is more of a trophy water, isn't it? Not as many numbers (or harder to pinpoint)? Also, how is the Bay of Quinte for musky fishing? I never hear of anyone fishing musky there which is weird considering most of the waters around here are pretty good in terms of size and numbers.

Would be very uncomfortable when that flag goes up. Receiving bills is painful enough already.

I gotta go to the Kawarthas sometime. What's the typical size in Pigeon?
