  1. I'm not one for gas fireplaces but that looks pretty damn cozy Lew. Hope the weather gets cold enough for you get lots of use out of it <wink, wink>
  2. The problem with ice travel over moving water would be the non uniformity of thickness as well as the *risk* of going through and under. Doesn't need to be quick moving. Slip and fall and who knows. There are so many other places to go for ice, why risk a creek run ? As an fyi, moving water doesn't need to be over the head deep to kill, it could be waist high but if one had a foot entrapment, then the situation could turn fatal very quickly. Be careful out there.
  3. mucho like !!! thanks for the extra mile effort !
  4. Also most pfds are not snug fitting (let's be honest) so there will be ride up which could/will affect your mobility as it rides up over your head and the arm holes aren't where they should be. The loose fit and ride up, imo, will definitely hamper any movement to exit in a cramped, disoriented vehicle compartment. As Wayne said earlier, it's the disorientation that will make people panic. I come from a whitewater canoeing background and have been under a canoe in moving water trying to set up a roll so have a small sense of what disorientation can feel like. Keeping calm should be the first thing to do. Wanted to note as well that the flotation of a pfd shouldn't be underestimated. it won't be a simple matter to just push down and fight the float. These things are meant to keep users afloat so diving down a few feet will be tougher than one would think, imo. This is from experience wearing a whitewater specific vest in moving and still waters.
  5. Saw this on a FB feed. Didn't see any attribution but the Winter Camping people are good. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=448328351904485&set=a.172862159451107.43509.172857966118193&type=1&theater
  6. If ordering from the states, USPS or Fed Ex are 100x > UPS. It's not even close
  7. mmmm, cold or hot smoked ? these would be good eating sitting in a fishing hut on a slow day. did I say mmmmmmm yet ?
  8. I always thought P3TA were more bluster and pr than anything. Most right thinking people can make up their own minds without them tossing paint on people or telling people a cute animal is just that and not food for the table. Basically we give them more credit than they deserve tbh. and yes, they do seem to be able to generate headlines with aplomb.
  9. I don't think you'll find many anti-gun people here tbh. It's just that some don't subscribe to what I consider a 1/2 empty point of view.
  10. pardon the pun but they have bigger fish to fry than worrying about anglers
  11. ok, I'll say it, I wanna see pics of the carnage but good news your gear was safe after the joy ride
  12. nice pano of the ice. Is this function built in to your camera ?
  13. ok, I'm not the greatest at math but that works out to roughly (used 7 years as a starting point) 28 962.8181 views per day !
  14. It's sad that there's absolutely no support from the other lodges on this seemingly simple matter, I mean what's to lose ? An extra day = happy clients, more money for the lodge and local businesses etc etc..
  15. If you had a penny for each page view you could be pimping Camp Jiggy
  16. you got that right T.J.
  17. but what if I get strange looks from my co-workers when I sidle up beside them
  18. Yeah, I was wondering about this as well. Just feels a bit unbalanced to my eyes. This entire post and thread 'frame' is shifted to the right and the left is lined up with 'Member Menu" box at upper left as noted. Will probably stick to IP.Board theme if it's beyond tweaking although I really like the colour of Aplitex Earth.
  19. I get two sick (family days) a year so technically I could use them for fishing but why waste it on fishing and end up not having one available when I'm really sick and shouldn't be going in to work ? Having a manager ask for a doctor's note when you've used up sick days fishing would not be worth the hassle imo. My company is pretty flexible but it's a two way street and abusing that would piss off my co-workers as well, and that's something that's a no win all around.
  20. and if they'd attended the pre meeting, Wann coulda got his license before hitting open water. but yeah, would suck major league to be caught sans paperwork AFTER landing the marlin.
