2019-2020 Hockey Thread

You can disagree but if it was as simple as you make it out to be, the NHL would have done it years ago. Frankly, it makes zero sense to try to coordinate injuries with time served and whether it was intentional or accidental. -

You're right...it should have been a penalty. But not a suspension because Methot got injured. The league can't start handing out suspensions based on medical conditions. You've have guys out "injured" all the time trying to draw larger suspensions...especially in or near the playoffs. Now, Crosby is good, but there is no way he specifically targeted that injury. Even the guys on Hockey Central discussed that fact that some part of responsibility lays on the players to wear proper gear. As many of the pros do, Methots was wearing a very light glove which optimizes feel. That's on him. And the high sticking rules only makes a distiction between 2 and 4 minutes..not a suspension. -

Think of it as a minnow bucket you can plug in. -
Good point, I could easily see them in larger offshore boats. I was thinking only of the bassboat community. It would be the windshield on my Ranger! BTW I was glued to the day one action on Lake Conroe!

I'm really not sure what the advantage of having a large single unit is. In fact, I think it's a disadvantage. With two units mount side by side or top to bottom, you get the same viewing area plus you can have them at different tilt angles. I stand in different places for different types of fishing. Further forward for working cover, docks, etc. and much further back for open water techniques. Also, if one unit goes down, with networking you can swap transducers to the working unit. Being able to move a unit from the console forward is great too. I don't think we'll see too many 16" screens at the console.

It was a common slash that caught him on his forward hand. The injury made it uncommon but at best, it was a two minute penalty. -
Thanks.

What does 500 yards of 80lb or 100lb PP cost?

4 bank, on-board chargers - Which one is worth the $?
grimsbylander replied to MSBruno's topic in General Discussion
I think they're both good units. As mentioned, I've had the Noco for about three years and it's been perfect. In fact, I used to take all 4 batteries out of the boat in December and store them inside the garage. Then I'd rotate a charger on them to keep them topped up. Pulling those batteries out and replacing them was a JOB! For the last few winters I run an extension cord to the boat in the backyard, tarp the boat and she sleeps until spring with the charger maintaining the batteries. THAT alone was worth the price of the charger. -

There is no way I would invest in an onboard charger and get a 1.1amp per bank unit. -

You better first make sure you know what you're looking for. That $280 Noco...is that 10 amps per bank? Sounds like it's the 1.1amp model and not a great option. I have the Noco 40amp(10/bank) and it's been excellent for three years. The list on it is $375USD. Yup...you're not comparing apples to apples. The $550 Minn Kota is the 440D and it's 10 amps per bank which you'll want. This is the comparable Noco charger: https://www.amazon.ca/NOCO-GEN4-Waterproof-Battery-Charger/dp/B003JSLWWA -

Marner is at 38 assists this year and the Leaf rookie record, set by Gus Bodnar back in 1943 is 40! With 13 games remaining, he should overtake it. That's pretty slick. Good on the kid! -

Maybe its time to try Matthews with a winger other than Hyman. Even a talented guy like Matthews needs SOME help. -

You don't have to be dead last to get a good pick. And yes 3-5 spots does make a difference. Hey Bill, where did all Septembers patient, understanding fans go that wanted to rebuild this team the right way?? Screw it!! trade the farm it's playoff time!! LOL -
There seems to be two camps... the guys that fish the point or weedline and the guys that fish the detail on the point or weedline. I want great electronics and I'll operate the electric all day to get it. I don't troll either.

I can understand why ownership would want the Leafs to make the playoffs...revenue. But as a fan? All season I'm hoping they slump. We didn't get Matthews because we made the playoffs in a wildcard slot. Who cares? When the playoffs roll around I want to watch only the best teams in the league...and right now, that's not Toronto. Go get some more picks and keep on building. -
Personally, all I want is spot-lock. But hey, we're all different. As far as the lbs and volts, that gets decided after you find a boat. The weight of the boat only plays a part in determining how strong a motor you need. A boat with a high gunnel, or fishing current or big water will require a stronger motor. Also, if you're on the pedal a lot (like me) having the extra motor or even 36V is a bonus.
