  1. I'm so glad we've had this time together.... Just have a laugh and catch some fish Seems they just got hooked up, then they got away... Was I alone or with someone else... I can't recall! HH
  2. HH
  3. Ok... I got my smokes... what did I miss? Dude, I re-read your original post and no where does it state anything other than "I" was fishing... so exactly what should we have assumed... now I have to run out and get a Kreskin hat on to try and figure out what you meant, rather than what you wrote! HH
  4. I'm gonna need to buy some more smokes, sit back and watch this one unfold! HH
  5. I like Tightlines in Pickering. Only two exits on the 401 for me and I have always been treated well in the shop. They have alot of stuff, crammed into a small space, but I find the quality of their products to be top notch. HH
  6. Now that's funny Roy! HH
  7. First and foremost... B.H. "Red" Fisher! There has to be a reason they didn't record the audio component of the videos and I think that they would have been hysterical! Second would be Al Linder... except I'm sure he would drive me nuts after while. For some reason, he can't speak unless he takes his hat off or re-adjusts it... I'd probably throw it in the lake pretty quick! Third would be Mercer for the same reason as Red Fisher... I'd be laughing all day! To me anyway, laughing is the essence of fishing with others... that's what it's all about. Can't see myself lasting to long with a stick in the mud fishing beside me! HH PS... I'll add Terry, yes our own Terry, on Temagami, in the winter... does it get any better than that Terry!
  8. A L. Erie fish hits the pan! Others, it would depend on the body of water. HH
  9. Thems aint Walleyes, thems be road eyes! HH
  10. Would a floro line be better for lining? Fish can't see it and swim out of the way!? HH
  11. I would guess that the mighty Thames is just too warm for any amount of time out of the water. But again, just a guess based on the info you provided. HH
  12. Try these about 50 ft in front of your bait. http://www.offshoretackle.com/snapweights.html HH
  13. I recognize that place! LOL (Last year, Jason suggested Golden Eagle camp for my family vacation and we had a great time!) My kids keep asking me when are we going back to the cottage with the BIG water slide? So, obviuosly, the kids liked it, so did I, but my wife just wasn't up for the 8+ hour drive! Funny, but I didn't catch one pike last year! Pickereyes and smallies were our victims! Thanks for renewing my memories and taking the time to write it up! HH
  14. As mentioned, for size, trolling suspended fish will almost always net you bigger fish. And trolling can be successful any time of day. It also allows you to cover more water and tends to target active agressive fish. Remember to keep you baits above the suspended fish as they will come up for a bait trolled, but in general, not down. As far as bait size goes, try and match the hatch so to speak, byt again, for bigger fish, use bigger lures. HH
  15. I've found that a good knife, applied right between their eyes, slows them down a lot! HH
  16. Dang Solo! All these years I thought it was just my "Aspertame" lump! HH
  17. After reading all this and again, some of our members comments, I am starting to wonder where I have to line up to get my "government chip" installed in my head so the "authorities" can simply scan my skull and automatically issue a fine. Sure would save all that wallet removal time and in turn, save me from falling over board removing it from my pocket. No one's arguing the merit of PFD's, but every little step the "authorities" take, to protect us, removes our freedoms. You have to pick yer battles and I get the sense here that this is a battle many folks are ready to fight! HH
  18. What a great report! You have connected with your daughter and she's got the bug! Congrats... I'm sure your one proud Dad! HH
  19. Amen Bernie and TJ, amen! For the life of me, I can't understand the mentality of some folks. They act like they are not capable of making a sensible decision in their life, without the government providing "guidance". The only thing we need more of, is less government! HH
  20. Well, if they create a system where by you are fined for not having a PFD on, then it's a tax grab. If instead, when they create a system of enforcement where by you are told to get off the water, with no monetary repercussions, then you have an inforcement issue, not a "tax grab". HH
  21. Manditory wearing of PFD's will amount to nothing more than yet another government tax grab. I can see it now, your trolling around on Quinte in the fall and get "pulled over" for the 3rd time that day, because the OPP spotted someone on the boat that didn't have their PFD on. Now, this will happen, shortly after the first and 2nd pullover; checking licenses and then checking saftey equipment. And don't try and tell me that law enforcement isn't above hiding in the weeds, waiting for you to take your PFD off and nailing you for a $100.00 plus fine. This is typical knee jerk reaction to some rather unfortunate incidents that have taken place this summer... but really, is this much different than any other summer? If you HAVE to legislate, why not make it a requirement that anyone under the age of 16 must wear a PFD when on a vessle? At 16, many can't even spell common sense! That would appease, for the time being, those calling for legislation... until next summer when the whole thing is regretfully, repeated. Less government, more common sense is the answer if you ask me... and those without common sense, well they'll either get it or pay the price for having not taken an interest in their surroundings. It aint all a bowl of cherries, now is it! HH
  22. "The Coves" are stuffed full of CArp, Suckers, Catfish and uhmm... Largies! I have a buddy who owns a place that backs on to the coves. Carp are hrd to get, very spookey in the Coves. Could never get them to bite. Best bet for CArp, as Beats mentioned is Greenway Park. Start at the train bridge and work you way down stream, until you hit the small creek which empties the Coves into the Thames. Actually, that whole stretch of river down stream all along up to the Greenway Break wall is great for Carp. And the beauty of the Tahmes is that you never really know what's gonna bite your line! HH
  23. Thanks for the great read! That's the kind of fly in I'd be lookin to do! Awesome and epic! Thanks, HH
  24. I've seen and heard it flying over T.O. around the air show dates. It still gives me shivers to hear those engines roar! Nothing else sounds like that! Thanks for the pics! HH
