  1. Sorry to learn of such sad news Tinman. All the best wishes to you, your family and friends. We really never know when our time will come, 59 is too soon to go knockin' on heavens door. Maybe he's gone to a place with tall evergreens, babbling brooks and plenty of hungry frisky fish.
  2. Good job Dave, thanks for posting the pictures.
  3. So what am I to do now? Take my desk top computer into the toilet so I can glance at the Crappy Tire catalog?
  4. Fishing World in Hamilton is going to have a seminar on trolling, I believe sometime near the end of April with the Walker rep doing his thing. Maybe some useful tips and info if you can attend.
  5. Niagara outdoors show is coming up soon. Right Here
  6. I think I wrote it down backwards or something The metric system always messes with my brain, old school thinking I guess. I still buy my meat by the pound never by the 100 grams or kg. When I measure for an order it is in inches not mm and the manufacturers I deal with are all on the imperial system even if it gets converted to metric when entered into the computer. The MPG is right though or very close to my actual gas mileage. I know Wayne, just trying to cover my butt just in case I'm questioned. I really don't pay much attention to figures but I should because if I did I would probably be living comfortably instead of walking a tight rope.
  7. It's tax time and since I don't keep great records in regards to bothersome things like a mileage log I just had to figure out from my skimpy records of odometer readings from Jan 1/08 and Jan 06 how many litres/100 km's by adding up all my gas receipts for the past 2 years (yes I had to go back that far) and I could deduct from that how many km's I drove last year. I just turn that number over to my tax guy and he can figure out personal and business use. After all that brain work I concluded that my 1997 Ford Aerostar with a 3 litre engine and almost 300,000 kms gets an average of 23.58 mpg or 11.98 km/100 litres. Not bad! Sure not as good as a small car still pretty though good for that old box on wheels. (Not sure if that is Imperial or U.S gallons as I used the Royal Bank web sight gas consumption calculator)Calculator here I thought I was not getting anywhere near that figure because it seems to cost so much money to keep it running lately. Guess the $1.08/litre really fools you into thinking it is doing poorly. I am getting pretty close to what I used to get when it was new! BTW, I haven't changed the plugs for about 150,000 km....still runs OK...knock on wood and cross my fingers.
  8. Hope you had a great day celebrating your new "Legal status" How's your head feeling this morning? I'll bet this first 19 years went real sllloooooowwwww....But don't worry, the next 19 will go twice as fast!
  9. Why not take the motor too if you do buy the boat? The worst that can happen is you have a motor to trade in at a dealer and maybe get a couple of bucks for it. But, what is important at this point is that the boat is seaworthy, then get a dependable motor you can trust. Even if the boat looks like a beat up pop can it's nothing without decent propulsion 'cause ya don't wanna hang your head off the transom and start making motor noises with your lips.
  10. TILLER!!!!! Someone had to say it LOL.
  11. Gerritt, It would be nice to meet everyone, and the entertainment sounds great too! Be a shame to miss it, however my meeting is actually a job interview. Actually it sounds like a gang fight as there is 3 of them against me, one of those panel type interviews and one of the interviewers is coming from out of town to see me! Wow, put the pressure on or what? So if I decide to stay home and study up on my presentation I hope that FF, Spiel and you understand why. H.
  12. Just edited the above Gerritt. If I do get there I will be leaving rather early, how late would it run?
  13. The tab's on Spiel? I always said you were a great guy! As much as I would like to go I might not be able to go. I have an important meeting tomorrow morning that I have to be bright eyed and bushy tailed for.
  14. With an apology to our resident attorney. Lawyers should never ask a Mississippi Grandma a question they aren't prepared for. In a trial, a Southern small-town prosecuting attorney called his first witness, a grandmotherly, elderly woman to the stand. He approached her and asked 'Mrs. Jones, do you know me?' She responded, 'Why yes, I do know you, Mr. Williams. I've know you since you were a boy, and frankly you've been a big disappointment to me. You lie, you cheat on your wife, and you manipulate people and talk about them behind their backs. You think you're a big shot and you haven't the brains to realize you will never amount to anything more than a two-bit paper pusher. Yes, I know you." The Lawyer was stunned. Not knowing what else to do he pointed across the room and asked, "Mrs. Jones, do you know the defense attorney?' She again replied, 'Why yes, I do. I've known Mr. Bradley since he was a youngster, too. He's lazy, bigoted, and he has a drinking problem. He can't build a normal relationship with anyone, and his law practice is the worse in the state. Not to mention he cheated on his wife with three different women. One of them was your wife. Yes I know him.' The defense attorney almost died. The judge asked both attorneys to approach the bench and in a very quiet voice, said, 'If either of you idiots asks if she knows me, I'll send you both to the electric chair.'
  15. All the best to your brother. You have lots of support from the OFC community.
  16. Good one.
  17. Have a good one Beans
  18. That is interesting...I clicked on the customer service link, it took a minute but it did come up as an email link. When clicking the buy wholesale link it comes up instantly as a new page. Guess selling might be a tad more important than giving a description of what their service is about. But at least I did get something other than a toolbar popup. Have fun with your new reel and remember, pictures!
  19. I've heard good reports about Golden Eagle Camp between Elk Lake and Mattachewan. goldeneagle camp Never stayed there ourselves but it is somewhat remote, I believe there are no cottages other than Golden Eagle and if you can manage the boat trip down stream through all the deadheads and rocks there is good pike fishing with the occasional walleye and bass tossed in for interest. I have bush camped the area with my cousin and my son. Took my wife up one September and we stayed in Elk Lake at the Moosehorn Motel! What a treat that was! The place is used by forestry workers and in season bear hunters. So this explains the lack of niceties. I made the mistake of jumping out of bed one night and forgot to slip my shoes on to go to the toilet. Stepped right onto a soaking wet carpet! Yeck! Since it smelled of stale beer in the room I have no idea as to what the carpet was soaked in, spilled beer? Overflowed shower? Overflowed toilet? But all this aside, they do have basic tinnies to rent, free docking, free boat ramp, A/C, cable TV (maybe 5 channels but most were French) a BBQ and good fishing. The price....reasonable but may not be as remote as you would like as it is in town. Now for priorities if my son and wife have there wish: cable TV, A/C, fridge, heat, hot tub, heated pool, an all you can eat buffet to gorge themselves on, spotless room, dock for the boat, no insects, palm trees (real ones growing outside in the dirt) and free drinks (soft drinks are OK) and.......
  20. I hope so too Michael, I have a deep fondness for everything Florida. If lucky then this winter has dealt the state enough rain to overcome any water shortages and maybe the next hurricane season will see some major rains, not wishing for any damaging winds, floods, tornadoes or fierce storms, just lots of moisture.
  21. Great report, making me think it very well is worth the trek out in the cold and getting a frozen azz out of it.
  22. Thanks for your help. Maybe I'll try Port Dalhousie for some Browns one of these days. So that would be the reason there were no cars parked along the service road at these creeks yesterday. I know that I have seen many cars parked there before however I don't remember what season I have seen them, guess it must have been after opening day.
  23. Wife and I went down to the casino yesterday afternoon to make a small donation and dropped by Pt. Dalhousie on the way home to watch the fishing action. A few guys were shore fishing and out in the harbour was a Jonboat with 3 on board. As they drifted past us I saw the middle guy catch something? Couldn't distinguish what from our vantage point but it appeared to be a decent size. Whatever it was it had fins and scales and is back in the water happily swimming around again. Could it have been a Steelhead or a Brown? Maybe the guys on the boat are OFC members? While I'm rambling on about Pt. D. does anyone here fish 16 mile or 18 mile Creeks in the Niagara area? I was thinking about maybe trying it this week one day or Pt. D.
  24. I owe John a happy belated! Hope you had a good one And TJSA a happy B. Day in advance. I beg to differ with you about not showing any Aries traits. Sometimes we just don't see things in ourselves. Or in the case of an Aries, we are just too foolhardy to admit it. Thanks for the well wishes folks. And Wayne, you have to go out and buy your brother and sister bikes now that she reminded you of her disappointment on that Easter day so, so ,so many years ago.
  25. Happy day Wayne. I thought I sensed a similarity with you fellow Arien! My day was yesterday.
