  1. To heck with the beaver i'll have seconds on the coon...
  2. Nice fish, Welcome to the board.
  3. Here is a word on the subject of carp as well http://www.wfn.tv/news/flyfishing/index.php?blog=23 Surprised sheepshead has yet to be mentioned in here. Apparently they are really dense and bony...
  4. I have a portable mr buddy with a 5lb tank... works great for a weekend of fishing in my hut.
  5. Canada was built upon the fur-trade lets not forget... Hence the Beaver being our animal... Generally trap lines are sold of to those who are eligible (have their trappers license) as for who gets first choice, I do not see how it would be given to anyone in priority, equal rights to wildlife I would imagine off of the reserves
  6. Just a word to you, After the time that they say it will take to get you're license, give them a call to ensure that they did not put any holds on it. They are very slow informing people of holds on the license and giving them a ring just ensures it is continuing through the process.
  7. Yup, GCD have only had one incident here, and my aim proved true not a bad track record for the university life.
  8. Born and raised in Burlington but am now at school in PG, BC
  9. Well BC is getting to me so I now say Kokanee for beer. I enjoy my shine alot though too.
  10. Way to go out there Mike looks like ya had a great time. Glad to see even the guy in the yellow suit catches a fish now and again. Hopefully I can get over there for next fall... Thanks for the report
  11. Ya, I suppose I may as well burn some time, jeez now I am never gonna finish Uni...
  12. Jeez, I was in there last week to see if people still kicked around in there, not a soul. Ya must all have been there before to make fun of my sorry rear... See yas next week!
  13. Great report, looks like you four had a great time on the water. Glad to see you were successful in catching fish and in having a great time.
  14. Way to go on the first deer. Got to love being part of the woods, and of course the whole hunt camp life for the time you get to be there. Enjoy eating her, will make some nice meat that's for sure
  15. Yup, buck has had a couple of really nice knives put out for collectors. It would make something neat to display no doubt, too bad I don't have 700$ USD burning a hole in my pocket. Thanks for sharing GCD, had yet to see this one
  16. Nice buck, congratulations. All of the above is always a nice choice. I almost always make most meat (excluding tenderloins, Backstrap etc) into hamburger and a few roasts, and if time allows will get a couple of salamis made from it. Jerky, and sausage meat can be made at you're leisure from the ground meat or roasts after and if you decide you want it. Enjoy the deer, only a matter of time until I get to attempt again at one.
  17. Saw a few cows lately, and a decent bull with a mid 30's spread while grouse hunting... The grouse hunting is really good though, I should have a report soon...
  18. I took both my courses when I was twelve, and got 95 on the exam and passed the hunters ed. I believe it was 2 days each... I know the PAL course was, as it was ne day of learning, a review and exam the next day. Ohh and back to topic... just got back from checking out a field... saw a nice young buck we plan on harvesting (I can't shoot but he can as he is a resident) Might try to take a video and will try to get some pics if all works out
  19. Saw 3 does and 2 fawns last night while scouting, and a really nice mature 4x4 muley... Too bad they wont let me buy a tag as a Non Resident, the buggers... Ohh well they can wait for next season... I will likely head out friday cause he's from here and can get a tag. Hoping he gets to punch the hole in it. Good luck to all
  20. I have used 7'6" and 9 ft on the grand... 8", if you want to keep it small will not be too much of a compromise
  21. Another option is the Cabelas brand rods. I have one (it was my first) ran me about 170 US with a reel line and all and it was an awesome combo. I use it as a backup to my Sage (which will be in for warranty soon, Grrrr) and as a travel rod and wouldn't part with it. Good luck again in the search.
  22. DanC thanks so much for sharing that. The more I browse the pages the more I like it. Appreciate the post
  23. Wow, that is neat. Here is a free and cool one. Although alot of far out places it is neat to see and read. http://www.thisisfly.com/
  24. Well, I use a 3wt for most of my small water trout fishing, including the grand and always use it on smaller tribs. A 4 wt is probably a good idea for the Grand as you may get into some really nice browns that the water does hole. Considering you have the 7, I would go with a 4wt. TFO, or if you can afford it a Sage. I absolutely love mine and they have a lifetime warranty too. Good luck in the quest
  25. I am sure a google search or yellowpages.ca search will be you're best bet. Lots of dealers it mainly depends on you're area
