  3. That's awesome mike! My son landed the biggest smallie I've seen in my life on one of those rods. Almost gave me a heart attack watching him fight it lol. As soon as it got close enough i hand lined it to make sure he got it lol. Wrecked his whole spool of line haha stretched right out
  4. Horrible. I'm kinda seeing bush arts angle but no proof to go off. I've seen it and even been the victim once before. I have a family member that commercial fishes LOTW. At least twice somebody has hauled his nets and left them in his front yard full of fish, which is just rediculous. A few years ago i came home to a 6ft sturgeon laying in my yard. No idea who how or why? But thank god i was able to revive the fish after contacting MNR. Some people just do really stupid stuff.
  5. Lol i just noticed that! Showed him we had a good laugh:) even tried to adjust it and still no face????? Hahaha weird

  8. Well opener sucked due to the river rising another 3 feet over night. But today was really good! No pics and we left after abit because it was obvious the walleye hadn't spawned yet. Lotsa boats did the same, which was nice to see:) so i decided to give my buddy a call and arrange to have my kids and their friends visit the sturgeon hatchery. Turns out that was the right call! Kids had a blast!!!! Only 5 males and 5 females but the kids learned a lot and got to witness their strength by trying to hold onto their tails, which caused a lot of laughter haha, some good facewashes!!!
  9. Also, for around here that perch is rediculous!
  10. Awesome! Nice pike dood! My boy started on one of those rocket rods too lol. Looks like an awesome evening wit the family:)

  13. Big cliff thats sad, and there are millions exactly like you i this situation. The fine line whe people realize its their right to survive. The government owns nothing, the earth owns everything
  14. i am not familiar with nippising at all, but i do read all the threads on the troubles there in regards to commercial fishing. I just want to pass on my honest opinion. If you want to work together, respect each other. Simple and plain. Make friends, be humans.
  15. why yes we do! Many of them. There is about a hundred down there right now. They stick around for spring then head to LOTW or rainy lake, where they battle everyone's favorite bird, the cormorant...
  16. Howah! Not sure if this is a testement to today's poorly made vehicles or how strong this kid is??? J/k. Id go with the dent repair shops. Since the invention of hail these guys got good:)
  17. she's a beaut Lew! Took a quick walk down to the waters edge, scared a mallard and it must have thought I was an immigration officer lol. Straight line to the American border ASAP! Also seen an otter. The creatures are out in full force today!
  18. Got up at 530 sharp and got coffee brewing. Plan this morning was to have coffee on the deck and watch these majestic creatures jumping throughout the river. Pretty chilly this am but the river is glass:) i hear birds all over, watching loons chase the baitfish, in between those sounds come large splashes of the mighty sturgeon. Mostly smaller fish so far, but a few big ones too! Pelicans already poised at the rapids, and on a steep rock on the American side, awaiting a feed. Two bald eagles are also out this am, and one hawk:) coffee is good, life is good:) good morning OFC
  19. We just smudged our house today and put up fresh cedar! Always a very warm feeling in the house after a smudge;)
  20. tobacco is very sacred medicine for the aboriginals. It's used in basically every ceremony traditionally. It has many many uses. But it depends on the tribe, areas and culture. When you take something from the earth, it's very important to give a tobacco offering. Cedar and sage are also powerful offerings. As is burning of leftover foods. Once cedar is used it must be returned to the bush, with a tobacco offering to the east. There are many lessons i have yet to learn. And things are different dependant on the situation. One thing is for certain. If your in historical aboriginal land, and you find a small pouch, it's an offering of some kind. Never ever touch it without an elder. I have lots of other learnings that I have it yet been taught. But i sure enjoy learning! It gives you a great respect for the earth!!!
  21. anytime we could make it happen im down for sure! We'd need a few nights though I'm sure lol
