  1. We only had a couple of cm's but it is fading fast !!!
  2. Cripes !!!...If you're not careful Cliff...you may be able to retire again...
  3. Word of mouth will be your best advertising Cliff... Here's to success!!!...Cheers !!!
  4. Pickerel will still be closed in the Kawarthas (except Scugog) until mid May 2010... Only panfish will be open for icefishing (perch, crappie, sunfish and bluegills) and all coarse fish (carp, suckers, rockbass, catfish and pike)... Make sure you read and understand the new regulations regarding species, possession limits and size limits...
  5. Try down by the lake at Port Hope or Bowmanville... If you try the rivers there stay south of the train tracks...
  6. I'm with you Jer...It is going to be hit and miss finding the crappie thru the ice... I'm thinking at last ice that they may be just outside the places we get them in the spring but for first ice...who knows? Lake Scugog is not a very good example as it is mostly shallow everywhere...At Jack Lake we got them in 20 to 30 fow... And I gotta agree with you on the open water fishing next year...ice out...boat in...no waiting until the 4th Saturday of April...Hopefully we will not have to contend with the jerks who anchor their boats right where we cast in one of our favorite shorefishing spots...Opening weekend has become a zoo... I'm going to make a post on a crappie site to see if they might have some tips for icefishing...
  7. You have never been icefishing with Joey and Tybo... BTW...Thanks for the info regarding the other species...
  8. You are not alone Weeds...I am wonderin' the same thing along with catfish and WGSF (rockbass) I have enquired about icefishing for carp on a carp board to find out techniques, bait etc. One problem as far as I can see is that most open water in the winter is below dams and those waters are mostly fish sanctuaries so no fishing for any species...
  9. Hey Mark...That is a strange lookin' carp in your avatar ! Did you get it on a hair rig ? What ground bait were you using?...
  10. I do believe that Cliff mentioned he did not want to get into huts or guiding...strictly accomodation and breakfast...besides the first couple of years are going to be hit and miss as far as the fishing is concerned...
  11. LAKAIR !!! 'nuff said... BTW...Don't believe Bass nor Mucksies are open the first week of June up that way...but there are lots of pike and pickerel...
  12. I haven't read anything to confirm this in the literature released so far but I sure hope so... Might have to give the MNR office in P'boro a phone call....
  13. I sure hope you are right...from chatting with one of our local bait and tackle shop owners he told me the locals can't wait to catch pickerel thru the ice up our way...Tri-Lakes and Sturgeon...JERKS !!! BTW...Thanks for posting Ron...been waiting to hear this news...
  14. Hat in hand,my bro-in-law and I will be standing on the dam, in town near the cenotaph when the trumpeter sounds...
  15. Many Happy Returns !!! Is Jewel making you a cake ? I likes cake !
  16. Ya Tony...I was going to mention that Steve didn't stand too close to his razor but didn't want to hurt his feelings...
  17. Been there a few times with Steve... Don't you just love the launch ? I guess he told you how good it was a few years ago...anytime I can catch over 100 quality perch in a few short hours...I'm happy... (only ever keep about a dozen) My bro-in-law and I caught 4 good sized perch and 4 dinks yesterday on Pigeon Lake in a cove we deked into to get out of the wind...ended up releasing them all... Glad you had a fun time...
  18. One show I liked way back when (the name escapes me)...the host usually fished around the New England states...usually had a well known guest...and was the first host to introduce the "flying lure"...Anyone ??? BTW...he usually fished out of a small punt...no flashy bass boats...
