Congrats, It would be nice if you can pick up your boat before the salmon derby is over, and then you can go win another.

I had a similar problem with a fiberglass boat that I had. I fastened the Release-A-Seat bracket on the bench seat using toggle bolts. I owned the boat for three years and it didn't show any problems. Actually, the only problem I did have was that the seat bracket isn't made with the greatest precission, and on one seat the swivel mount (attached to the seat) wouldn't slide out of the bracket because it couldn't get over the release lever. I installed four of them on my boat, and this happened to one of them. As a result, when I winterized my boat, that one seat had to stay in. Every spring I tighten all the screws or check them, and they were always fine. The only difference is that since my boat was fiberglass (so were the bench seats) the bench was plywood finished with fiberglass. This might be significant becuase in order to insert the toggle I had to drill 1/4' hole. In your case Rivets also sound like a good/better idea. Just make sure the release lever is facing front or back, you dont want to release the seat by sliding it along the bench. I made that mistake and had to reposition the bracket.

help!!! small boat advice/experience needed

I don't know what one of those 10' tinbangers weigh with a 9.9 hp motor and trailor, but I can't imagine your car would have a problem towing one of those. I used to tow a 14' fiberglass with a 50hp Force with a Mazda Protege without a problem. Also, when the salmon come in closer later in the season and conditions permitting, you will see plenty of guys out on L.O. close to the mouth of the Credit in their tinbangers all rigged up. Zodiak is problably not a bad idea either, you see them out there too, but I must admit its not my first either. -
I have one mounted on my console to hold my Lowrance X15. I think they are great, I fish mostly Simcoe, L.O., and Couch, so of course I have been in some quite choppy situations, and have never seen it move. Its such a simple system, and it works great. I have had mine for 8 years and you wouldn't know it. If I ever sell my boat, that is coming with me. They should also make rod holders.

NF - Is your brain wired like everyone eles?

there is a trick to it. The reason you might find it difficult is that your hand and foot are moving in opposite directions. As you draw the 6, try drawing it in the opposite direction you normally would, its much easier. -
I had a similar problem a few years back. The wasps found a crack in the mortar near the ground and got into the basement and built a nest between the foundation and the drywall, and then got into the house through the spaces between the ductwork. For days I couldn't figure out why when I came home from work there were always 6-8 of these large wasps in the house. I finally found them and how they got in. One thing for sure, only try to get them at night or shortly after sunset, because they are dormant or inactive, and also all the wasps will be in the nest, its not fun trying to spray the nest while the others are trying to get in. I used wasp foam, which has one of those long plastice nozzles (like the ones on WD-40) and inserted it into the hole and sprayed the crap out of them. The foam sticks to their wings so they cant fly, only crawl around. The next day I called an exterminator and he just pumped some kind of powder into the hole which he said would get the rest of them, and he didn't even charge me for that. I must have had quite a large nest, I found well over 100 in and outside of the house. Of course, once you think there all dead make sure you seal up the hole, and check the rest of your house for potential areas, and seal them up as well. You would be surprised how small a hole or crack they and other insects can use to get inside.

After reading several threads and doing my own research as well, I am curious what everyones thought or experience is, in regards to filling up with gas from those various independant gas suppliers, or from Crappy . The point is to purchase gas which does not contain ethanol, and I am assuming that since all the major suppliers in my area all have ethanol (excluding the premium blends), perhaps the other suppliers will have regular gas without ethanol. To be more precise, is there any reason not to purchase regular gas from the other suppliers for the boat, or is it all the same except for the ethanol.

You can't get to Aston, because its gated off, not motorized vehicles beyond the gate. However once you are at the gate you can actually see Temagami, and before you arrive at the gate there is another small rd which leads to a large summer camp for kids which is also on Temagami. You can't drive all the way down to the camp, you have to park and then walk for about 1km. If you want to get to Temagami you are better off portaging a canoe. As far as Eagle Lake or Little Eagle lake is concerned you are again better off with a canoe.

shoes or sandals, its too easy for a single snell to escape the tackle box without noticing, and that is one experience I will do my best to avoid.

its most likely just a bulb.

never used it or heard of it before, but just checked it out, and I can't see anything out of the ordinary. I'll just stick with Google, they have bar none the best add on free services.

that is too funny.

for a bush road its pretty good, and wide, lots of lumber trucks on it. Lots of cool scenic areas, access to different areas of lake temagami such as the N. Arm, and of course red squirrel lake, which has a large camp ground and you should have no problems launching. When I say camp ground, its more like a large gravel pit. I know that doesn't sound overly romantic, but its still nice, because your right by the lake. Bring your topo, or google the area, I am sure there are some good back woods lakes as well.

of course, BBR special

N/E Ont. Back Lake Adventure (tons of pic's)

Great report, finding those back woods lakes looks like a lot of fun. -
Wow, nice GB ski, and those pics are great.

I love these kind of reports, keep them coming.

I hear you. This happens all the time everywhere. The licensing thing was definately a step in the right direction, but they didn't go far enough. In Europe, or parts of, boaters have to take courses and get examed just like when they get their drivers license. Right now, the boaters license program is a total farce and serves no other purpose than a cash grab.

"The pic of this one. kinda shows it's bulge". I can see the bulge ...nice bass, and first post.

I only use minnows for crappy fishing, which is only once or twice a year, and any leftovers I give to whoever is still fishing when I leave, and never had anyone turn down free bait either.
-
Thats a good one, I think its too late for me to use that one on my wife though. Fireline or Fusion, 6-8# diameter. From what I have seen, I don't like powerpro at all, its too limp, and gets too many nests, its very similar to first generation spiderwire, which was terrible.

NF- The exact moment a new star is born-Paul Potts
Tacklebuster replied to bigfish1965's topic in General Discussion
Regardless of anyones music preferences, its impossible to not acknowledge and appreciate his talent. I am sure we will hear more of him. If you do a search on youtube you can get quite a few videos of Paul Pott in this competition. -
Good one. I guess that makes it into Guiness for the worlds largest bucktail. Yup, won't be long now.
