  1. Ha, yup, taken 'er easy means I forgot the sign in the truck, d'oh. But I used the OFC measuring tape for a crude photo, it has the OFC logo ... Can the OFC tourney jury lend some pity to a guy with a broken stomach? Haha, if not, then oh well.
  2. Thanks Rizzo, I've fished this lake twice before and got skunked on all outings... I guess it was all part of the build-up to that pig of a fish! Hahaha. You'll have to trust me I got one pic of it on my tackled box but I can't upload it now coz I'm using my phone to access OFC. I guess it doesn't count for the tourny without the OFC tourney logo, right?
  3. I'm in Gogama fishing out of a rented boat. I've been feeling under the weather so its just worms and jigs and taken 'er easy for me. Here has been my night: Nothing, nothing, nothing followed by nothing ... Then WHAM! Huge 20incher. Hahaha biggest one for me, looks like a simcoe specimen. That was 3 mins ago, sorry no pics. Vertical jigging is now my favorite bass technique
  4. Nearly every natural speck lake south of new liskeard minus algonquin park.
  5. Here in Mini-France we would put the Bob before the Billy too.
  6. WGSF and WGD (worlds greatest dad) Epic weekend!
  7. Fantastic weather this weekend... For people at least. I wonder if the specks were waiting for the full moon glow to start feeding. Pretty cool that you ran into Mr. Bunk.
  8. Paul, this reeks of a cover up story to avoid ice fishing. Please no lawn care reports
  9. Maybe they started off as french? In french they say "lac nipissing" "lac erie" "lac Seul"
  10. Your camera takes GREAT photos wow! Mine is good because it's waterproof but the quality is no match. I agree that we may have left the brookie lake a little early however on a sunny day like yesterday we could have trolled for HOURS in the daylight before they started bitting... IF they started biting. Those stocked lakes are a gamble; O2 deficiency, disease, over fishing are all things that can render the lake basically void of life. We covered the water as good as we could so for me it was time to move on. I had two other brookie lakes mapped out for us but again they were a gamble (and off-road journey) and I wanted to put you onto some fish.... or maybe we both need some brookie-fishinglessons haha. The walleye fishing was FURIOUS folks! At one point it was a fish every cast. I haven't seen walleye fishing of that quality since my northern Alberta days. We now have a honey hole Dana... we should have weekly business meetings there. I was under-the-gun at around 6pm when all we had caught were a few bass; all that was forgotten when Dana pulled in the first keeper. What a beauty! Here are the pics: Trolling the brookie lake Hula Popper bass Walleye shots It was a great day Dana...thanks for the company.
  11. Nice chain pickeral A full stringer with time to spare. Awesome!
  12. Hahaha. Mid day fishing will do that to a guy!
  13. Haha nice sail-pal. I like the sportspal a lot. No worries about scratches, easy to patch, super light and takes a lot of weight. On the other hand its difficult to portage without a yolk, the seats aren't great (the foam ones) and it isn't the fastest canoe over long distances. For fishing, its one of the better choices imo.
  14. And gives me a lot less backtalk then some of my other fishing partners. Miss you too bud
  15. I havent' been to Liberty yet although it's on my list of things to do. Definitly no signal down Red Squirrel, but I know a few lakes that are closer off the highway that I KNOW have specs (watched the MNR stock them this year) which I can get to with my truck (your welcome to a seat for the ride in). Send me a PM tonight if you can go tomorrow and we can figure things out from there.
  16. Typically I'll take the hard road and walk it but last night I wanted an easy outing so I drove 5 mins to the North Bay waterfront (Nipissing) and launched the Ol' Pal. I finally got a deep cycle battery and tested out my trolling motor. As per one of my latest threads, I've been experimenting with diving cranks so I decided that I would do the same this night and leave the worms at home. VERY few boats out there...not like the spring at all. Trolling motor worked wonderfully! Most beautiful night I've seen in a long time. First cast with a jig A final shot before I packed it in. 4 in total, one came off at the boat, all under the slot and good eating size. I kept two and one will be given to my Grandma tonight...she loves walleye. Cheers all.
  17. What are you doing this saturday? I may be able to meet you halfway and we can try a spec lake together. I've got my own sportspal/trolling motor now and some good techniques for you to try. I'm on-call, so some cell phone reception is required but most places near temagami have at least some signal. Roy's advice is good.... specs love flash and they love worms.
  18. Its no wonder you have a hard time catching walleye
  19. 3/8 jig and 4 inch grub. It casts well, finds bottom quickly and catches just about everything. Any color combo.
  20. When the fish are really hungry, I'll use my non-confidence lures and learn new techniques. For me its deeper diving crankbait, but I'm working on it.
  21. Great report Frank! I couldn't avert my eyes... those photos are so nice and scenic. My favorite is the close-up of the bright yellow on the walleye. Sounds like you found your camping honey hole!
  22. Caaaaamp Country pike....lalalala....caaaamp country pike...lalalala. hahaha too funny. Great vid. Thx.
  23. same here. I bought a bunch of different size "zip" bags from luremaking.com and I use them for harnesses, leaders, hooks, sinkers or anything else. Speaking of luremaking..... I should make another order of hooks and ball bearings.
