  1. Thanks Wayne, those step by step pics are great. I had the dealer do it the first two years but think I may do it myself this year if time permits.
  2. Lew is there a camp on the lake you were on and if so was the fishing good for numbers, this is a family trip and catching a trophy is not necessary, just want to have fun see some new territory and have a shore lunch or two in the week.
  3. Have any of you ever fished or even visited any of the following lakes. Lake Kipawa Lake Ogascanan Booth Lake Lac Duparquet I am doing some internet searches and these have sparked my interest but would always rather hear from past experience if possible. Thanks in advance , Mike.
  4. My understanding was that it worked on its own, but as Irishfield said was only a fishing hot spot chip and not good for navigation, which I think applies mostly to the boys with the bigger boats going for week long cruises etc.
  5. Wayne we do a week in Timmins in a prospector style tent and would rent one but there is no way I can talk the wife into it. So this would cut down on opportunities to go.
  6. But we gotta be there to get pictures when it goes all wrong.
  7. The extra power may come in handy some day and you can always throw out a drift sock.
  8. Thanks for the great read Moosebunk.
  9. I think all new motors are quite good. My father in law has a new Merc and I have a new Yamaha the Yamaha is a bit quieter than the Merc. Also Yamaha has been very pro active with customer satisfaction surveys with their products so far ( nice to see they are worried about what you think after they have your money ). My kicker is also a Yamaha and if I buy again it will be another Yamaha.
  10. I have bought a few Quantum set ups lately and in my opinion you can't go wrong with them.
  11. Joonmoon I was in the exact same scenario as you a couple of years ago. I was told not to insulate the bottom of the floors instead insulate the crawl space walls with spray foam. I had a contractor do the spraying and it worked great. Floors are much warmer and I used electric wraps for my water piping in the winter and no longer need them, they cost more than your heating costs for the season.
  12. Have a great day Cliff. By the way I sure am glad your on team 6.
  13. I've had both and prefer the PD for my style of fishing and I agree with sinker the long cord is great to steer when at the back of the boat. I use my gas kicker to propel the boat and the Minnkota to steer using the auto pilot when trolling Erie for walleye it's great.
  14. He is probably the best I have ever seen at setting up Lowrance electronics. I seen a guy that had a brand new Ranger bass boat the dealer had installed a Lowrance network and it didn't work properly 2 minutes outside he new what the problem was and did all the repairs for the guy on the side of the road. He always treats me great, thats why 99% of my buisness goes to him.
  15. Thanks for the help guys, I think I am staying at the Holiday inn. What type of tackle and bait are they using there and at the mall. Bob thanks I will check out the Algoma train as well. I don't know how much time I have but I will fit in what I can. Do they night fish in the spots mentioned?
  16. I agree with every one so far and also think that we need to think of our resources from the Green stand point and stop polluting at every level. Not saying the green party just that whole outlook on our country. I have given these type of issues more weight in the last couple of years than ever before, maybe it's because I'm getting older maybe it's the OFC influence.
  17. We are heading up too the wifes uncles place for the long weekend. I have never been before, he is taking us stream fishing one day but I was just wondering if there were any other things that are a must see in the area while I am there. Thanks Mike.
  18. Great post, makes me want to go there even more.
  19. You can find Bass just about any where in the Thames, it is about a quarter mile west of your hotel.
  20. Noticed you have been on the board lately, please contact me at home.
  21. Thanks FINS pm sent. Seems hard to believe your the only one with a camp they would recommend.
  22. I know I have read a few posts from guys fishing the northern area of the Quebec border. Some of them must have liked it. Tony I gues that is my one exception, I have fished the French the last 3 years and want to change up the area a bit.
  23. I want to try a different area for my family trip next year. I am looking at Bay Wolfe camp and am intrigued but want some other options. Prefer cottage not the Hilton but enough the wife won't kill me. Preferably Pike and Pickerel but any and all other species a bonus. Trophy not as necessary as numbers to keep family entertained. Prefer 8 hours or less from Toronto. I am also very interested in the Quebec Ontario border area and North from 401. Any area where wildlife sightings are a good possibility are an added bonus as well. Need to be accessible for my 18 foot bow rider aluminum or possibly a rental. Any one have any good experiences at camps they would like to recommend.
  24. We went out with a charter who owns and operates his own boat, so all money is going to him and I tipped $50 for five guys at the end of a full day charter. In saying that I have been out with this guy 3 times he is $700 for a full day charter and he works his tail off to put fish in the boat. The tip to me is a way of letting him know you are happy with the service he provided.
  25. Just be careful of the spring once you remove the shipping packaging they can bite if you let them unwind.
