  1. Gentlemen, Thanks to all for the invites My challenge now will be scheduling enough time to accept all the invitations. Fortunately my boss is an avid fisherman and understands 'priorities'. Also, I'm looking forward to entertaining some new friends on LO in the summer. I've sent pm's to all who responded and will be in touch over the next week. Thanks again guys. I look forward to meeting in the near future. Regards, Simon
  2. WOW!!! So this is why we're OFCcommunity.com Who needs guides??? Thanks to all for the replies/invites. I will post responses and reply to all pm's tomorrow am. Cheers Guys Simon
  3. Hey Dann, That sounds great. Hmmmmm... Your hut wouldn't happen to be the one with the big white stripe on it ?? Just kidding, I've seen your post of le' chateau Skeeter and am looking forward to first class ice fishing. BTW, any friend of the Mercman is a friend of mine I'll shoot you a pm tomorrow with my contact info. Cheers, Simon
  4. It has been about 15 yrs since I was last ice drinking fishing. I've grown up a little bit since then and no longer have the urge to sit in a hut all day getting trashed That said, I would really like to spend a day on the ice and actually put some energy into fishing but I have zero tackle for ice fishing. So.........I was wondering if anyone was interested in setting up a day on the hard water in exchange for a July/August day of LO salmon and rainbow (I launch out of Port Credit/Promenade). I have all the required tackle, gear and boat. You would just need to show up at the launch. I live in Mississauga and would be willing to drive 3 hrs for a day trip (weather permitting). As well, any day of the week could work for me. If anyone is interested send me a pm accordingly. Regards, Simon
  5. It's been about 15 years since I was last ice drinking fishing. I would actually like to get out and fish for real as opposed to sitting all day in a hut and getting hammered. I'm too old (& smart?) for that any more. Anyone interested in trading a day on the ice (you provide the gear) in exchange for a July/August day on LO for salmon & bows (my boat & gear)?? I'd really like to experience true ice fishing. BTW, I can be available any day of the week. Regards Simon
  6. John, Here is the link http://www.navionics.com/Charts_Mobile_Single.asp?MobileType=iPad&Area=Canada App store link is in the lower left hand of the page. Ontario lakes are here http://www.navionics.com/Charts_Mobile_Lakes.asp?MobileType=iPhoneSingle&State=ON&Area=US Simon
  7. Hey all, I just downloaded the new (released Dec 23/10) Navionics Canada/USA Great Lakes HD for my iPad. The app allows you to pre-plan/chart your fishing trip/day on your iPad/Phone/Pod from the comfort of your couch and then just key in your routes/WPs to your on board/ portable GPS. I think it's a great deal for thirty bucks vs the cost of $200 chip. It has all charted lakes in Canada & the US. http://www.navionics.com/MobileMarineFeatures.asp?MobileType=iPad Be sure to check out the FAQs on the website if your thinking of adding this app to your iPod(there are some restrictions). BTW, I have nothing to gain from navionics for posting this. I just wanted to share what I think is a good buy. Regards, Simon
  8. My most sincere condolences to you, your family and all that loved your father. God Bless, Simon
  9. The whiners in the article must have had there head stuck up their If they didn't plan (like kickingfrog did) & expect a 2+ hour wait they deserved to miss part of the game. They must have been liberals
  10. God Bless Nanook. Most sincere condolences to family and friends. Simon
  11. Belated Merry Christmas to you Paul. It looks like we need to add a few LO salmon & rainbow to your species list. Don't forget my invitation for July/August. Happy New Year to you and yours. Regards, Simon
  12. New Orleans Saints. Money in the bank.
  13. TMH, The longer boom/arm will give you more versatility when installing and locating your riggers. With my boat, I have a cutaway transom and my riggers are approx 30" away from the transom. You want to make sure that the riggers are located in a position that is easy and comfortable to operate. For example, my riggers were initially attached directly to the gunwale and I was constantly having to bend over the side of the boat to attach my lines. I added the platform last spring to raise the height and adjust the positions accordingly. Now all rigging is done standing upright. Much more comfortable and considerably safer in rougher waters. Regards, Pikeslayer
  14. I hope this doesn't get me into trouble with mods , but if you're looking for feedback and info on downriggers you may want to have a look at spoonpullers.com. There is a 'Product Review' sub-forum on the general board. It is pretty much exclusive to salmon fishing related topics and there are always quality used downriggers and salmon related equipment in the for sale section. That said, IMHO spoonpullers is a pretty 'snotty' forum when it comes to on line exchange between members. It is somewhat an 'old boys club' and new members aka 'smolt' are rarely acknowledged/responded to in the 'place to introduce yourself' section. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule and there are a few good guys on the forum but nothing compared to the level of camaraderie found on this site Btw, I run 1991 walkers and they easily manage 12 lb. Torpedos + sub troll. If your considering buying used walkers, pm me and I can send you info/photos on what to look for. There was a period in the mid/late 90s where they sourced their motors from Mexico. Very bad. Regards Pikeslayer
  15. Cliff, Good morning & Merry Christmas. Thank you for responding to the post. Sean is returning to Lindsay the w/e of Jan 9th. I will call you later next week to see if we could meet. Regards, Simon
  16. Hi Cliff, I showed your post to my 22 yr old son Sean. He is a first year student @ Fleming College in Lindsay. He is an avid (borderline extreme) fisherman and is very interested in exploring your offer (he's not too keen with hanging out with 17/18 yr olds during his downtime/ weekends). He is a very responsible young man. I also showed the post to my wife and her only concern was that 'Big Cliff' is not your previous prison handle (just kidding, sort of). All kidding aside, please feel free to check out my profile and send me a pm if you're interested in pursuing this further. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Kind regards, Simon
  17. Larry, Your post is very 'telling'. I certainly will never consider Rapala as an alternative based on this thread and your 'less than positive' experiences. Merry Christmas to you too. Pikeslayer
  18. Larry, You may want to give this shop a call. Reel repair is pretty much all they do. A Aikman Sporting Goods 3010 Novar Road Mississauga, ON L5B 1S4 (905) 277-3595 Regards, Pikeslayer
  19. What's calculus?? Do you drink it on the rocks, straight up or mixed?
  20. If he was pulling a boat & trailer, I'd be impressed.
  21. Paul, Best wishes to you and your wife. I hope Santa is able to bring you the gift you both deserve. Merry Christmas, Symon
  22. Another thread got me going on this. Pikeslayer
  23. Hey Mercman, I think this scene from the movie 'Road Trip' is very fitting http://www.youtube.c...h?v=AZ93JG4xiwQ and could make your 'job' a lot easier Regards, Pikeslayer
  24. For the record (per my original post), I 'm sticking with my prediction that Wilson is gone on Sunday Dec 5th. Pikeslayer BTW, Whoever's in first, that's my team!!
