rico - I forgot to ask - are you getting a gas or electric water heater?? If you are going with gas, I can get you a couple of names in the Oshawa area for you to contact. Roy - the liner is only if you have a natural gas or propane heater going up a chimney (conventional vent). Like Gerritt said, there are power vent heaters available that go out the side of the house but you then would still need a liner for the furnace if it is going up the chimney.

Do you know if you have a chimney liner in your chimney? If you don't that will have to be installed as well when you change the water heater to bring it up to todays standards. That will add about 300 - 500 to the bill no matter which way you choose. Phone around and get a couple prices and see if it is worthwhile to own it. Not alot happening right now so you may be able to get a good deal from someone looking to keep their guys busy for a morning. Also, look at buying your own at home depot / CT / Home Hardware and ask a couple companies what they would charge to install it for you. Right now, you can buy 40gal gas heaters at Home Hardware here for less than I pay for them from my supplier. Not alot can go wrong with them so owning it does make sense - figure out the total install cost and divide by your monthly payment to see if it is a good deal. You should get 10 - 15 years out of it and the after about 6 years what you save on no rental payments puts you ahead. Just my .02

I have done it and not sure what to say. Myself, personnally, having to do it all over again in the same position you are in, I would not have done it. Too many sleepless nights wondering who to juggle, the bank, the suppliers, etc to ensure food on the table. Of course, the stress is different than being in a job I was unhappy in. I escaped that but created a new set of stresses much worse. On the other hand, hard to tell someone not to follow their dreams. Just be very realistic in your financial predictions, what you will need to live on in the next few years, etc. Take the time to put together a very good business plan - many templates are available on the internet. If you can't put a business plan together for your own business, reconsider going into that business because for the most part you will be all you have to fall back on. Good luck whatever you decide - hopefully whatever path you choose makes you happy.

Moved thru faster than I thought but of course since I didn't apply for them and my name is not on them as the applicant, they can't give me any info. Step 2 now, have their mom call.

Took 20 mins to at least get in line, now only 17 ahead of me. At least it is a start trying to find out about the kids application. Wonder how long it will take to move thru 17 people

Thanks for the info guys. Just checked with ex and she sent a copy of the birth certificate with the app and not the original. As of now you don't need a passport for entry into the Dominican so the birth certificate should do although I would prefer the passport. Will get on the phone tomorrow morning to track it and see what I can do but still should be able to go. The application did say they were leaving Jan 20 so hopefully someone notices that and moves them through a little quicker. What was that someone said earlier about procrastination?? Any idea where this could be confirmed without waiting on hold for hours with the passport office. We are leaving for the Dominican next Friday and still are waiting on the passports for the kids. Wouldn't be too concerned except that my ex did the application and sent their original birth certificates with the application so if they don't come, I don't know what ID we would be able to use. She applied on Dec 15 so hopefully I can find some sort of confirmation about delays etc.

Hope they win it for you Whopper. I would have preferred to see them play Michigan again but after their performance in the Rose Bowl, I guess it was the right call picking Florida. Hopefully the title will at least remain in the Big Ten
