  1. Yeah, but everything came out in the end!
  2. My condolences to family and friends as well.
  3. Some of the other forums I'm on only allow members to view pictures that are posted, but still allow visitors to see the written content and I think that strikes a good balance. If they like what they read they might be tempted to sign up-sort of like cheese in the mouse trap. Either way I think it's important to encourage all fishing, especially when it gets kids involved. I have fond memories of taking my 3 year old son fishing for the first time (he's 34 now) no better way of building a good relationship or respect for the environment. Is there going to be a result of this poll or is it just out of curiosity?
  4. The god old days of the company store! Some people say a man is made out of mud A poor man's made out of muscle and blood Muscle and blood and skin and bones A mind that's weak and a back that's strong You load sixteen tons what do you get Another day older and deeper in debt Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go I owe my soul to the company store I was born one morning when the sun didn't shine I picked up my shovel and I walked to the mine I loaded sixteen tons of number nine coal And the straw boss said (well a bless my soul) You load sixteen tons what do you get Another day older and deeper in debt Saint Peter don't you call me 'cause I can't go I owe my soul to the company store
  5. Blaming this on big wages, pensions and benefits denies the fact that without a good standard of living it wouldn't allow us to buy these extremely expensive products. How can anyone argue that wages are the problem when they sell rods and reels, running shoes, motorcycles, clothes and other consumer goods at the prices they're charging.? Like it was mentioned giving tax breaks- which is our money to corporations to build offshore is economic suicide. The claim about workers asking for too much only covers up the real issue and that is no rules for the corporations and no interest in social responsibility. They keep promising jobs, jobs, jobs- but at what cost?
  6. I wonder if that guy shops at Canadian Tire?
  7. It seems that not only does the Federal Government have little interest in science to protect our environment and waterways, but the Provincial Government has also made the same decision! They seem to be following the Golden Rule- "Those who have the gold makes the rules"! http://cpaws.org/news/cpaws-wildlands-league-concerned-science-sacrificed-for-quick-business-deal
  8. Over the years I've noticed more and more garbage left at portages and shoreline fishing sites- beer cans, candy wrappers, juice and water bottles and fishing line ect. Most people understand what old fishing line can do to boat motors but what effect does it have on wildlife? We've all seen movies that show the stomach contents of dead sharks- the scene from Jaws that showed an old license plate comes to mind. A friend sent me a link to a website for a film project called Midway Journey. This movie has some very startling scenes and underlines the importance of recognizing the impact that irresponsible behaviour can have on our environment. http://www.midwayfilm.com/
  9. The Conservative government is shuttering a scientific “jewel” in northern Ontario that has put Canada at the forefront of global freshwater lake research. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/politics/article/1179983--conservative-government-shutting-down-northern-ontario-world-class-freshwater-research-facility
  10. Worlds biggest ant hill. Architectural wonder! http://www.dump.com/biggestant/
  11. I had the same problem earlier this year and bought some liquid ant bait stations at Canadian Tire. They were called Green Earth Homecare- Honeydew Formula with uni-tract. They worked amazingly well. After two days no sign of the ants. The best ant traps I ever used! The website for the product is www.greenearth.ca
  12. Wow! Great price. How much for shipping?
  13. Tackle Warehouse site shows the spinning rods and according to their information the A handle is 11-1/2 " B handle is 12" and C handle is 12-1/2" http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Shimano_Crucial_Spinning_Rods/descpage-SCRS.html You can also check there for bait cast rods as well.
  14. The Canadian Tire Stores in Windsor are also going bigger. Must be trying to compete with Bass Pro. A lot of our little bait and tackle places are hurting. Not a good thing!
  15. You can try contacting Bass Haven in Mitchell's Bay http://www.basshavencanada.com/ I don't know if they have a beach area, but they do have great fishing.
  16. Wow!!!!!!!! True craftsmanship. Beautiful work!
  17. Check the link. http://talkflyfishin...showtopic=10464
  18. Great! Enjoy your trip!
  19. I agree with you. I bought a Pro Qualifier at the spring sale and with the reel exchange got it for $69.00. Worth every penny and then some. I wanted to try bait casting but was a little reluctant and didn't want to spend a lot of money until I tried them. This was the first bait caster I've used in over 40 years. It took me about an hour to learn how to use it and have used it at least 10 times since and I'm impressed.
  20. We're going up there in July. Haven't fished there before. But if it's any help, Fish TV did a show there. Here's the you tube link
  21. Good stuff. Nothing wrong with your other hat!
  22. Great fishing show and one of my favorites! He's a class act. I went on his website and here's a schedule of tournaments, events and seminars stateside. http://www.factsoffishing.com/about-dave/wheres-dave/
  23. For those who are planning a trip from other parts of Ontario to fish the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair, be warned that changes at the border have created some problems. Please check out the article about those changes before you head this way. I hope this information will save you some frustration. Windsor boaters frustrated over tightening of border rules http://blogs.windsorstar.com/2012/03/05/windsor-boaters-frustrated-over-tightening-of-border-rules/
  24. Try by Lakeview Marina in the Peche Island area at the mouth of the Detroit river. Water has been very dirty due to high winds this week. Five day forecast calls for light rain and showers Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday with increasing temperatures and clearing by Thursday with fairly light winds all week. If the winds stay that way the water should clear up. It's a tremendous fish factory. We don't have a closed season here and the walleye fishing in the Detroit river got started early this year due to the higher than normal temps and it has been excellent when the weather cooperates but still good when it hasn't. Hope this helps.
  25. Now that's funny. Good job!!!!!!!
