  3. isn't it interesting how many of us were touched by Howard Stern that day.. I was driving to work after sleeping in all stressed right out. I had just been to timmies to get my daily double double. I was stopped at a red light in Brantford when Howard and Robin were starting to totally freak out. I immediately turned around and went home to tell me wife what had just happened. We put it on CNN in time to see the first tower smoking. There was all kinds of speculation as to what was going on at that point.. Just then the second plane hit tower 2. My wife right then and there put her hands over mouth and began crying. I remember the feeling that this wasn't real and this must be some sort of movie footage. When the 3rd plane hit the pentagon and the 4th crashed I knew we were under attack. I right away went and picked the kids up from school. I didn't want to find out schools were on the agenda of terrorists that day, so i took no chances. Here's something that the Howard Stern listeners can confirm to me from that day...Did they not say that they had callers call in to report that they had seen that the 4th plane was shot down by US military? I distinctively remember Howard saying Oh my god , I couldn't imagine the pilot of the fighter jet that had to shoot that plane down. Then not another word in regard to that..I also remember Howard staying on the air till after 11:30 am as they were locked down in their building, reporting the entire time. That day did change our way of life to some degree. However with the back bone that the New Yorkers had shown that day sure impressed the HELL out of me. It just goes to show how terror and fear brings us all together for the common good in us all..

I explained to her that if we let it go it would have hundreds of babies, she could teach her kids to catch one day...

  16. Simon, after reading all your posts over the years, I can tell your not an unreasonable man. Nor am I saying you are. Id call him up and ask why his bill was so high.If he is a good reliable Plumber he will want you to be happy when handing him a cheque..Word of mouth means everything to these guys. Epically where you reside. I too am self employed and can understand where his $140.00 an hour comes from..Keep in mind tradesmen ticketed or otherwise have families to feed too. The only difference is they also have to maintain and purchase tools, trucks and insurance, this all before getting to your house. Then he also has his employees families to feed as well. That's where you the customer come in. The cost of living has gone through the roof lately..Now imagine the cost of running a plumbing business or otherwise. I'm not saying you shouldn't ask him to break down his price but do keep in mind that farmers do feed cities, however contractors build them...I would have also asked for a quote in writing up front..I good contractor wont have a problem with that. As for time and materials I wouldn't touch it EVER..There is always someone thinking they got ripped off at the end. Yes you may get the highest possible price from the contractor when you request a quote or estimate but then again you don't run into surprises at bill time. Remember Simon us self employed folk want (need) you happy for referrals. Use that to your advantage when negotiating with him..Im willing to bet he will be reasonable, to put smiles on your faces..Good luck my friend
  17. Ill keep it short and let the pics do the talking..I took the family up to the trent river for the weekend of fun and fishing..Oh the wife and I also celebrated our 13th year of marrige too! on the 28th. Anyway was out fishing right in front of my dock during hurricane Iriene. My dock sits right at the bottom of a of a lock on the trent system. My daughter came down to the dock to yell across the river that she had wanted to fish with dad. So I up the anchor to go get her..Get her in the boat and back over to drop anchor.. not even 30 seconds into it I hear "fish on dady" lol her eit is a nice 17.5 incher! Then its dads turn. a niice 24 incher. .throw in a ton of SMB and id say we had an awesome day!!! On another note check out the size of this dragonfly we had visit us on sat night...WOW!!! Anyway thats all for now...here are some osprey pics I took too...enjoy!
  18. The owner of the resort we stay at in the summer, dumps his fish houe gut pail in the bay every morning..The turtles love it and they love it there..He asks us to sererate the garbage from the guts. The plus side to this is, you get to see tons of turtles of all sorts.

  21. I know a resort in calendar that rents 16 footers with 30hp motors. Glenn Echo Glen Echo has Serious Boats for Serious Fishermen: There’s no question that your fishing experience is directly related to the quality of the boat and motor you have at your disposal. We totally agree with this theory and want to ensure a memorable fishing experience for you. That’s why Glen Echo prides itself on having the best fleet of boats on the lake, including: •16 Foot Lund Boats equipped with raised casting platform, 3 swivel seats, fishfinder, livewell, bilge pump and running lights •30H.P. electric start Mercury outboards •Bowmount trolling motors available* * extra charge applies http://www.glenechocottages.com/site/fishing.php They are a nice couple from the Brantford area that bought a run down older resort and havent stopped working on it since buying it a few years back.

  23. Great thread guys! Keep it going..I always wanted to night fish for eyes on a river...Any tips? I do have a boat.
  24. is there a drain on the float bowl? Can he not just test the float level with a piece of fuel line attached to the drain? by lifting and lowering the line you can tell where the fuel level is in the carb. You can then take up the slack in the float so it wont pop out again. I'm not to sure if it would work on a marine engine but I have used that method on my motorcycles in the past. Correct me if I'm wrong and I'm quite sure someone will...lol Good luck I hope you get it resolved
