So it was his....and he forgot about it? We were on a construction site this summer and one of the excavator operators was waving around a MINT rookie Gretzky card. It was the most valuable one (o-pee-chee). The supervisor told him what it was worth and told him to go lock it up in hs truck.

Why did you leave before the late bite???? Usually starts around 5:40 pm this time of year. Buddies were out a few weekends ago and only caught perch all day. Then in 20 minutes at prime time they caught 5 walleye. kept 4 as one was too small.

That hat would go great with your pink gloves.

Ratcaster, read the regs for Nipissing and be aware of the sanctuary from Burford's point to the shore past Wasi Falls. Doesn't open until June 1st.

Ya you have to wait until midnite....I'm usually passed out by then...lol. Lots of options though. You could fish Trout Lake, Nosbonsing, Talon, etc. All good fishing opportunities. Drinking heavy would be my choice. I`ll be at the trailer waiting (drinking by the fire) for the walleye opener to go fish Silver Bass????? Rod Caster are you in??????????? We are gonna slay them this year.

I have a Lowrance Fish Lo-k-tor 250LPF and it is useless. It flashes alright but clarity and sensitivity are hard to adjust compared to units these days.

No stew but got me wondering.....can they be used for bait?

Introducing The Perfect Small Car for Women Renault and Ford have recently joined forces to create what many critics call "the perfect small car for women." By mixing the best qualities of the Renault 'Clio' and the Ford 'Taurus,' they have launched the exciting new 'Clitaurus,' which comes only in pink. According to the manufacturer, the average male car thief won't be able to find it - let alone turn it on - even if someone tells him where it is and how to do it. The Clitaurus does have a few drawbacks, however. Car and Driver Magazine reports that it leaks transmission fluid once a month and "can be a real bugger to start in the morning." Some reports indicate that in particularly cold weather, you won't be able to get it to turn over no matter what you try. New models are fun to own initially, but quickly become very costly to maintain and horribly expensive to get rid of. Used models may initially appear to have curb appeal and a low price, but quickly develop an increased appetite for fuel, and curb weight typically increases noticeably with age. Manufacturers are also baffled when trying to explain how the size of the trunk seems to expand with time, justifying the phenomena by arguing that the pink paint may cause the trunk to look bigger than it is. This model is not expected to reach collector status. Informed owners suggest that it is best to lease one and replace it each year.

I spent the afternoon on Callander Bay with BassAssin. I started fishing around 11:30am and 1st drop of the line resulted in a nice fat 10" perch. I thought it was going to be a good day......WRONG! A frew more perch was all for the day. BassAssin (Matt) joined me around noon and after coffee and lunch we decided we would try some other areas. Having little concern for driving on the ice (minimum of 18" all over now and more then 20" in alot of areas) we tried the channel leading out to the main lake. We fished around some of outfitter's huts in 21 feet of water and we were skunked. Marked very few fish for the 1st hour then a few came on to the screen. No takers. Back to my hut we went around 4:30. I left to pick up my boys and returned to finish the day with Matt. He had one more perch when I returned, and then pulled up a mud puppy. My boys thought it was cool. Day total was 4 perch and a mud puppy. Here is a "point and click" picture I randomly took this afternoon. Thought it looks cool so I'm including it.

Jer, My point is no matter how much the place sucks fish away from the hut and go get some Lake Nipissing walleye. I have lived here close to 20 years and never heard a glowing report of the place. I would not reccomend it to anyone but if he is booked to stay there then he should move arond the area and find the fish. You can easilly drive a truck 10-15 kms away from the huts right now.

Everything else can be corrected by the angler. want your bungalow in a decent spot though.

My biggest concern is the location of the huts. They are really close to shore and bunched together? Welcome to the board.

Steve, we have a seasonal trailer at Glenrock Trailer park in Sturgeon Falls. Glenrock It is family oriented park that is well kept. There is a good boat launch and all of Lake Nipissing / upper French River to fish. It is close to the Sturgeon River and maybe Randy from Sturgeon will let you in on his "falleye" spots. It is a 5 minute boat ride with my 90hp Yam to the mouth of the French. It that is too far I suggest Restoule Provincial park over Mikisew. Alot better fishing opportunitues at Restoule.

Best meal we had (adults) was a cheap seafood place called Boston Lobster. All you can eat lobster for $20 and beer was good too. It was close to a rib place we wanted to try (smokey bones or something like that) but that place was packed so we tried the seafood and ate till we were FULL.

What do you think about when you're fishing?

We stayed at a time share in Kissamee close to the Arabian Nights dinner centre (themed dinner). When we wern't at the parks we golfed at Kissamee G.C. (sucked) and one day we drove to Daytona Beach. Crazy restaurant deals along the stretch in Kissamee and we had no problem spending hours in the "all you can eat" places and consuming lots of beers. F.Y.I. making a u-turn on an amber (o.k. it was red) light will get you a ticket from the Osceola County Police with their guns drawn. We had 2 kids in the van with our wives and I was driving. I think it cost me $240 Canadian.

Hut is 8 x 12 so holes are about 10' apart. Only fishing 19 fow. Worked better today as I had the transducer cable haging along the side of the hole (ice). I was using the float before and in the 9" hole it took up more room. Only got a pike and 4 perch today. Nothing jigging.
-
Not inside my hut. I didn't design it and there is no room for 2 holes in the cut-out.

Not much on Hwy. 11 from New Liskeard to Temagami. Maybe on the Elk Lake Hwy (#65)? After Temagami there are a few around Marten River and Rabbit Lake area.

Playing in a hockey tournament in Sundridge for the weekend. Snuck out to the hut this afternon from 3-4:30 and got a nice little eye. Missed a bigger one jigging. Gotta figure out how to get my transducer out of the way and still hold the fish on the hook

Hey Alexander (as your dad called you). You know my son's name is Alex as well and I am the only one that calls him Alexander, usually when he is in trouble. I remember when your dad called me from his cell as you 2 were heading to the North Bay waterfront for some perch fishing that Friday night. When you left the hotel you were driving and you turned left. I had told your dad to turn right but some how it was your fault eh? It made me laugh. I heard the discussion about you turning around and I could just tell how close you two were. Like buddies as much as father / son. When I walked out to meet you guys with my little guy Karter you both made an effort to stop fishing and introduce yourselves to me and Karter. You are VERY much like your dad was. Take pride in that. You are a fine young man and your dad was and still is proud of you. You already have all the necessary tools to be the "man of the house". Take time to greive with your family. It is part of the healing process. When the greiving is done Celebrate his life. Keep doing all the things you did together and most of all Keep making him proud.

Nice that we can now drive on the bay (and lake for the most part) but there is a lack of snow making it tough for the snowmobilers. When I went to my shack on Thursday there was a piece of a broken carbide runner and the bolt on the ice behind my hut. Here is what the bay looked like on Thursday Feb. 9th. So.....taking advantage of the lack of snow I took my oldest son Alex out for a fish/skate at the hut. He is already an accomplished figure skater but my brother-in-law bought him hockey skates for Christmas and he hasn't had much chance to use them. Here is our 1st video. Sorry for the movement of the camera. Sit down if you start to feel woosy. We found some better ice along the staked road so we did a second video before the camera died. Here is a picture of Bartlett's Towing removing the GMC Envoy that went partially through the ice on Jan 13th.

You know my choices. For your tent trailer or are you going to upgrade? Try Land O' Lakes Campground beside Marten River Prov. Park.
