  1. Nipissing has no Lakers. Whiteys are a challenge.
  2. Looks delicious but can you even taste the perch?
  3. If you haven't signed up for the derby yet......do it.

  4. -1 from your Salty. 13 is my favourite #.
  5. Only 1 nice walleye today. A beauty 15" eater. We caught a couple more but just babies. 2 pike, 7 perch.
  6. See if you can pick up a cheap Gen. 1 Lowrance HDS and buy the PP1 (portable power pack and ice transducer). It is a still a great unit for both seasons.
  7. Beautiful bird.
  8. Simon you should make one. Best way to keep minnows alive for months. It is a 3 foot long piece of 5" PVC pipe with a cap on the bottom and a threaded cap on the top. Perforated to allow the water through it and a rope/chain attached to the screw on lid. Drop it down the hole with a piece of 2x2 tied to the rope and you have a place to keep your minnows acclimatized to the water you are fishing. To get it out I drill a hole on a slight angle about 6" away from the 2x2 and use my gaf to hook the rope and pull it up.
  9. A buddy and I hit the hut just before 10am this morning. Fished until 4:30 and ended up icing 11 walleye (kept our 4), 26 perch (kept 9), 1 pike. Stories for the day are lost a big pike on head shakes when he cut my line. Lost a HUGE walleye for Nipissing when the hook popped out as I tried to drag it up on the ice. My guestimate was between 6 and 7 lbs. based on size of head but never saw the length so could have weighed more. She had shoulders. I tried my best and put my arm in the hole to my elbow and had the fish pressed against the underside of the ice. All released walleye were 13" or smaller.
  10. Fishing should be really good this weekend. Dobee, maybe posting the cost per person, driving arrangements, and incidentals may help you out? What about sweetening the deal for a member and charging the additional guys less? Some money is better then 3 guys paying it all. Have you talked to the outfitter about a smaller bungalow or cottage with day huts? Might be cheaper for 3 guys. What is the cancellation / re-booking penalty?
  11. Borrowed from Rides85 Fb post. Shared from WFN.
  12. Another EPIC post from you Andrew. Your gift for explaining your experiances in words is only bettered by your gift of catching the fish. You're pictures are great too. I think the snake eating the frog is an incredible shot worthy of print. I am truly envious of your angling skills. Congrats to both you and Bren and Best Fishes for 2013.
  13. Any time Brian. It's nice when you can drive right to the hut.
  14. 7" of ice as of yesterday but going to be close to 9" by the weekend.
  15. I thought about grabbing the 2 shiners in the belly of one of the walleye I cleaned. Joeytier will tell you I needed all 3 chances to get the bugger.
  16. Cram, I am pretty loyal to Discount Bait at the corner of Trout Lake Rd. and the by-pass. However, Billy Bob's is selling 3 doz for $10 so I may have to visit Billy when these run out. The advantage of Discount Bait is they treat me well and I average 15-18 minnows per dozen. They have also permitted me to buy bulk by the pound for our annual GTG.
  17. They are all still alive in my Minnow Motel. I do have an aerator system in the garage but nothing works better then keeping them under the ice.
  18. Hit the hut today with Joeytier around noon and fished from 1pm to 4pm. Got into a few perch at the start and then around 2pm the walleye started to bite. We ended up catching 5 walleye and lost just as many. Caught close to 10 perch and lost a decent pike at the hole. We kept our 2 walleye each and I took home 2 perch while Joey brought home 3 perch. Good start to the season. Big surprise was $17.40 for 3 dozen Emerald Shiners.
  19. Pulled the hut out onto 7" of good solid ice today with the help of JoeyTier. My 1993 Skandic 503 was put to the test as there was alot of slush. Pulling a heavy shack in the slush does not make for good steering lol. Opening day report to follow tomorrow.
  20. Here is the FB info from Uncut Angling. Uncut Angling HIGH 5!!!! Make that fifty eight point 5. Pounds. This is what it looks like to high-five a WORLD RECORD MUSKY! This 58.5 pound fish is the largest musky caught this year, in recent memory, and (depending who you ask) possibly EVER. Guided by close friend and musky superpower "Laz", client Ed Barbosa (a seasoned trophy muskyman) caught this historic fish and weighed it on an IGFA certified scale t...o take all doubt from the guesswork that surrounds most catches approaching this caliber. Musky Hunter, the authority on musky fishing in print, television, and online will have the full story and photos very soon. Here is a glimpse for you now of the most incredible catch of 2012. Happy New Year from Uncut Angling!!!! #Released #CatchAndCatchAgain
  21. The lighthouse in Callander Bay blew down in a huge winter storm about 8 years ago. Just the platform (decking) remains.
  22. Lots of huts out on Callander Bay today. Sleds and quads had no issues. Mine is going out tomorrow morning. My buddies measured 9" of good solid ice in front of where the light house was.
  23. Posted on eBay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Boone-Spinana-Lure-Circa-1955-Seldom-Seen-/360543415841?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53f20fee21 Lot #1 and Lot #2 at the bottom.
  24. Google says it is the Boone Florida Sundance Bait circa 1970s.
  25. Thanks Bernie. You mean there are "other" boards? Lol.
