The west shoreline of Callander Bay (along Osprey Links community) has a killer weed bed that always holds pike. However all the shore lines and around the bay and around the islands hold pike. The walleye fishing in my opinion may be the best it has ever been for #s this year. Only allowed 2 per angler with sports licence but catching is always fun.

Kevin, your local pool will have a learn to swim program for adults and one lesson is swimming with clothes on. I too was a skinny lad and never floated well. Best advise for in a boat besides wearing a lifejacket is loose shoes or boots. You have to be able to kick them off if you go in the water. Many years ago a teen age boy died on his grad night while canoeing close to shore. They tipped the boat and he was wearing steel toe work boots. When they recovered his body he was standing on the bottom of the lake with the surface just 1.5 feet above him.

Kevin, Thanks for telling us your story. I have one that I have never told on here before. Please excuse me from hijacking your thread but here it is. In 1974 my oldest brother (Brent) drowned at the age of 4. He fell into a fast moving creek when he walked away from my father who was distracted for a moment. IT ONLY TAKES A MOMENT! They thought he had been abducted but was found downstream hours later. My mother was pregnant with me at the time and my older brother (Trevor) was 2 yrs. old. My parents later had a 4th son (Neil) and he is 2 years my younger. All 3 of us surviving Buchmann boys were certified lifeguards and swimming instructors. It was not an option. Our mother would have it no other way. I personally saved 4 people from drowning in our local pool. Included in those was a mother and 4 year old son who were drowning each other in panic (called "double clutch"). As a result of my training I also saved a boy from choking by using the heimlich maneuver in our hiugh school cafiteria. Pretty sure Brent helped me out in those instances. My boys are now 10 and 4. They are both excellent swimmers for their ages. However, I was terrified to learn that last Saturday my 10 year old retrieved a soccer ball from a fast moving creek here. He did not get wet but got an earfull from me. Kevin....PLEASE get swimming lessons. There are sessions for adults to "learn to swim" at your local pool. If you know others who can't swim get them to go with you. Drownings are seldom unpreventable. May 6th would have been Brent's 42nd birthday. I never met him but always miss him. The water on Lake Kenogami and Lake Sessiginika (both along Hwy. 11N) will be open by the time you get there. Herbie the Volkswagon Beetle that sits out on Lake Kenogami went through the ice around midnight on May 5th.

I cleaned up as much of the oil as I could. I put the cap back on and the cowling. It will sit in the sun tomorrow and I will check to see it it is still leaking.

There is a rubber cap on top for filling the tank and there is another smaller cap but it has the sending unit in it. I will post some pictures tomorrow night.

Dave, I have checked all the lines and they are still flexible. All the clamps are tight and this is a SLOW leak. Over the spring (last 2 months) I lost about half of my tank. It was 3/4 full and is now just above the minimum line. Where would I buy the oil lines? They are black in some areas (normally clear) .

I have found an issue with the oil tank under the cowling of my 1991 Yamaha 90hp outboard. When the cowling gets warm in the sun the tank expands and pushes oil out of somewhere? It pools in the bottom of the engine compartment then leaks down the motor to the foot. I have checked all the hoses and clamps. I removed the tank and it is not leaking. My question is ............ can I put a breather hole in the top of of the cap? Will it screw with the oil injection? Any other suggestions? I know there are several mechanically inclined members on this board. Turns out that the cap has a breather on it but that the inside piece of the cap was rotated the wrong way not allowing the air to pass through the breather holes.

3rd Saturday in May here Roy. Zone 11 SUCKS bad. No pike or bass year round when our lakes are polluted with them? Nipissing closed to all fish fromm March 15th to 3rd Sat in May?????? Lake Trout closed from 3rd Sunday in March to 3rd Sat in May in most lakes with a few exceptions???????

Just saw your post Mercman, you beat me to it. Maybe I'm doing IT wrong too What about using the Berkley line spooling station. With Spinning reels the spool faces towards you in line with the reel. When spooling a casting reel the reel faces the side and you pull from underneath with tension on the spool. http://www.berkley-fishing.com/products/tools-and-equipment/classics/spooling-station-portable I bought one many years ago at a garage sale and never had a problem since.

Boston has beat the Leafs 3 out of last 4 games but the last 2 games have been close (March 7, 25th). The new style the Leafs are able to play matches the Bruins better then any other team in the conference. IF the Leafs can play tough and get good goaltendning then they have a great chance of beating the Bruins. I am actually cheering for Ottawa to beat Montreal, but it wil be tough. Habs and Sens split their season series. They were all tight low-scoring games. Now if Price / Budaj play better then Anderson / Lehner the Senioritas are gonna have BIG problems.
