  1. Wow...that is a VERY cool pic Mike!
  2. Thanks everyone..... Dan....that winning salmon in your avatar is HUGE!!! LOL Heading out now.
  3. We'll be staying in the town of Magnetawan....the main lake we'll be fishing is Ahmic....maybe hit Cecebe or one of the smaller lakes attached. Just packing the last few things now. Later!
  4. Hope everyone has a great week and weekend. Bly and I are headed up to the Magnetawan area for our annual camping trip with a bunch of our friends Thursday morning....returning on Monday. This is the first time we are bringing the boat. Hopefully we'll get into a few fish! Going to try our best to hook up with fellow OFNer bbnotty as he'll be in the area as well!!
  5. Perhaps, but don't the walleye spend some time out in the big lake during the summer months and then come into the bay in greater numbers as the water temps cool down?
  6. Glad to hear that you went in and are getting treated. Bly was in to see a Dr after the headaches started....relatively early compared to you by the sounds of it. Those hobos are nasty...she has about a 1" scar left as a reminder. She didn't need the intravenous stuff.... Anyhow....hopefully you'll have a speedy recovery! Thanks for the update.
  7. Don't get discouraged! I lost a lot more than 2 last year....LOL. I've been stocking up on cleos over the past few weeks to prepare.
  8. WOW!!! Congrats to your daughter!! That muskie ate my PB muskie for breakfast....LOL. Great job!
  9. Any update on the Dr visit?
  10. We have had them come in down the chimney....if you have a fireplace, check in there.
  11. I'd say the Blue Jays would come and beat on them, but hey, that's just not gonna happen now is it???
  12. Yep...I concur....looks like a Baltimore Oriole.
  13. Happy bday!! And many happy returns!
  14. Oh yeah....they prefer dark areas like crawl spaces, gloves and bedding.
  15. Bly was bitten by a Hobo spider before. It got pretty nasty, infected and painful. Ended up on some good drugs to get rid of the infection, but it didn't heal for quite some time. Hobo spiders are found in Ontario....do a search on pics of these kinds of bites on google....they can get quite nasty. Go to the doctor...
  16. Very sorry to hear this news Ron. I remember when you posted about him earlier this year. Our thoughts and condolences to his family, friends and all who were touched by him. Cliff and Carole
  17. SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!!!! That's about all I can say about that....LOL
  18. Since I'm a new boat fisherman, I haven't figured out patterns yet with the weather and how fish relate to structure etc..... From shore however, water clarity, wind direction, barometric pressure, water and air temps all are factors. I do pretty well when all those things line up.
  19. The skeg on my motor has a similar chunk missing out of it. I haven't really noticed any performance issues. If it were me, I'd just leave it as is. Call it a war wound.
  20. WOOO HOOO!!!! Hey...I know that guy!!!! Congrats again....couldn't have happened to a better guy. Enjoy the prizes!!!
  21. Check out the FAQ section above....there's a link in there about this subject I believe.
  22. I would think so Holdfast....it'd just have to be upside down in the holder.
  23. I agree with you camillj. I'm proud of each of our Olympians for competing on the world stage as the best Canada has to offer. Like you said, the funding isn't there...many of our athletes have jobs to help supplement their training and travelling. I dont think any of them are losers....they should all be commended for their dedication to sports. Some look at just medal count, other look at the personal sacrifices they have made to represent us there. Like someone else has said, Canada is not set up for athletics....the money that the US pours into it at all levels of education is light years ahead of us. I suppose if we all agree to be taxed more, we could fund them. Or maybe those who feel strongly are already giving their hard earned money to support them.
  24. Great advice Victor! I'll add my two cents as well. We have a 14 foot fiberglass canoe and bly and I have fished out of it just fine. Plenty of room there. I used just those foam things for the roof of the car....you'd be able to put that canoe on top of the civic no problem...just tie it down properly and you're good to go. We have a trolling motor bracket for our canoe....they are likely pretty cheap....so even if you decide to troll later then there is still a good solution for you. Our canoe anchor is a big coffee tin filled with concrete and a bracket on top to attach a rope to. We have two of these made....really cheap and they work great. And like Victor said....if you get a stripped down 12 foot tinny with a 6 to 9.9hp motor and light trailer, your car should be able to handle towing that without any real issues. Have fun making your decision!
  25. Yep...I second carp.
